I don't know if there is much interest in the 427 cars so I'll stop for now.

  8. Absolutely love the photos of Leffler's coupe. Cool to see how it worked it's way up to badass. Too bad Neil's effort with Bill Coburn didn't prove to be as successful.

I'm good with the 427 cars. Used to hang out in Bill Ireland's barn when I was a wee lad and check out the parts with that silly snake and oval logo as well as count the carburetors hanging from nails in the rafters. It's all history tommyd, thanks for throwing it out there.

Saw the Rochester injected light blue T in post 43715 at a Hartford CT. Autorama in the early to mid 60s. This same car provided one of my most outstanding memories of Dover dragstrip. At about half track the car started weaving left and right increasingly more wildly till it plowed into the bank on the right side of the track wadding up the front end. As I recall the car ended up on its side. As its support vehicle ('57 Ford?) approached, the driver crawled out of the T and started pounding his fist on the roof of the support vehicle, presumably out of anger and frustration,a totally understandable reaction.

Also saw the channeled 32 with the crazy trumpets on the injected Hemi from post 43710 both at the Autorama and running at Dover. At the time I thought it was about the coolest thing ever. Had the good fortune to see most of the cars in the Dover pics run. It was a great time for hot rodding. Thank you tommyd and everyone else for posting the vintage drag pics.

Tommy D., the photo of the 1963 1/2 Fastback is a classic. Dillman Furniture on the quarter, and all four names on the door. Thanks.

I am pretty sure it would be Mike Schmitt.

  29. Seems to me the 65 was in F/X most of the time.
The 64 was still in AA/SA.
Pretty sure Mike drove them both at Bristol, '65. The F/X cars might have been in Modified Eliminator at that time.
