I recently purchased a gas tank that I would like to know more about. It is a black tank that is 6" by 9" by 35". It has a logo that says Rover Gas Turbine Co. England. Doing a websearch on that I found out that Rover made gas turbine powered cars in the late 50's and early 60's. But I don't know if this is from one of those cars or not. If anyone recognizes this tank or can shed some light on what it might have come from, I would greatly appreciate it.
Don't think Rover ever produced a turbine car beyond prototype. I think that might a gas tank for a turbine water pump. These were used in the 50's on ships.
yeah, I saw that middle picture, too. 8 gallons wouldn't get you far with a car. How about some of our British friends?
. Already did (Limey) Owned a P6 long time ago. Read both of these so that's not a car gas tank. Looks like the cap matches the one in the pictures.
Yes, it's in great shape, not a dent in it and no rust. I'm really intrigued by the tank. It going in my 1930 Model A pickup project. One of the cool things is that is has a mounting flange that extends down from each end, 35" apart which is exactly the width of the outside of the rear frame rails. When I brought it home and put it on the frame, it fit perfect and I knew it was meant to be.
