If I'm not too late... is the seat you have the seat you will be using? Steering column and pedals in the correct postion? Then... put on a helmet as you're probably going to want to Billet-proof it some day or race it at any of the other popular traditional events. Then add 2" to the top of your helmet for a little bounce insurance (after the headliner is factored-in!). Then calculate your chop. Visibility isn't everything. And the "Look" isn't all that comfortable for you or your guests if your rod is terribly uncomfortable. FYI, I failed this little test when doing my truck and now I can't wear a helmet without 40 degrees of camber in the old neck joint - nor drive it even an 1/8 mile that way. My vote would be to chop it LAST! Gary

Next after the idea about about only doing the small chop, and going after it, the advice above is the best one I've heart in a long time!

    Keep at it, lads!

Lug studs are swedged to the drums so you can't just press out the studs to replace them. That swedge has to be cut out around each stud to release it from the drum causing you to have to replace the drum. If you try to press them out without this it will fold the drum up and maybe damage the hub. I replaced mine with modern studs with the hole reamed to a good press fit. Dick Spadaro helped me with that, many thanks to him and many others here on this site for all the help. Glynn.

A couple guys PMed me asking about the No. 5 Coupe. It is in Germany now, from what my buddy is telling me. It's a 7" chop. It was built by a Zach Whitlock out of Tennessee. There are a few pictures of it on here but I don't know his handle..

^^^I don't usually like heavy chops, but man that chop really accentuates the nose! That is the bomb!^^^
    HR50,
I'm really enjoying your build by the way.

Someone may not of had a title, acquired a different one and made up a tag, it's hard to say. If the state added the tag it would be a state issued number and not a Model A based number. It's difficult to say what occurred over the last 80 some years. The only way to verify the true serial number is pull the body. If you have a title in your name matching the tag then I'd just leave it at that.

Your Garage is the perfect environment for such a build. Reminds me of my owm space. Tho I have uneven Pavers for a floor and two less walls. So Shelter from the elements pretty much sucks.

This'll be an interesting one to follow.

Thanks custom Kandy. It's one of our shops that used for oil field equip and repair. Luckily I've got room for the coop and my ghia but it's not a nice shop by any means. Good enough for a backyard hot rod though.

So as I mentioned the lug studs are way to short. One option would be to run 16 inch wires. But to be able to run these Steelies what should I do. I've figured out how to remove the studs. Then can I just replace with a normal style stud or should I look for some later model drums that will fit the stock brake setup?

Thanks guys. I'm pretty happy with it. I was dead set on 5" this morning but this looks right to us with how high the car sits.

I keep thinking this but the problem is the header wood will be 1/4 inch over the crown of my noggin and I like my seating as it is. So probably staying here. It looks more hammered in person too.

I do love the chop on your latest coupe though.

Looks just right even if the car did end up siting a tad lower.

I'm pretty happy with the stance. I like em sitting high for some reason. The rake is spot on for me.

Also I gotta thank fellow hamber jcfranklin for getting me off my ass and to cutting. He measured it all out for us. It would likely not have happened otherwise.

I can't stop staring at it!

In the past year and a half, three of my friends whacked their 30-31 coupes. One @ 3", one @ 6", and one @ 7". Each car looks very cool BUT after seeing yours, that is where I'm going to chop mine. BADASS BRO
