Spotted this '40 Deluxe Woodie at the NSRA MidAm Street Rod Nationals this weekend. SUPER cool.

Great stance, aged Acadia Green paint, original wood, a hopped up 8BA, and a Borg Warner overdrive adapted torque tube. I am in LOVE!

Saw something yesterday that, looking back, I should have taken a pic and posted it. But WTH, I have a new phone and haven't yet taken the time to learn how to even take the pic, much less how to then post it on HAMB, so I'll just have to ask yall to visualize!
Yesterday evening I went to the cruise in @ "Piggy Park" in Thomaston, GA. Piggy Park Is a curb service drive-in doing business there since 1950 and in this spot since 1965.
I thought I had a nice '40 til I saw the Standard 4dr sedan in grey with seats in a matching shade. In the back rests of all 4 seats was sewn an embroidery of the grill and surrounding fender edges.

A couple of 40's at Springfield nats this weekend. I did not realize when I took the shot of the one with Salt Flats that it has what we used to call "scavenger" pipes. Very unusual. bschrismer's stake bed 40 behind my 40 coupe, 41woodie here on the HAMB stuck his 41 woodie in there. 100_9180.JPG 100_9189.JPG 100_9166.JPG

wow, that is interesting, haven't seen scavenger pipes in many years. used to have a set on my '47 tudor back in the 60s. Nothing prettier than a black '40 coupe imho.

Here's our car, without the flames, stripped and painted this past winter. when we stripped it we found it to be as solid as we hoped for. No patch panels, no rust, some bondo on dents on panel under truck lid and on one rear wheel arch. Pretty happy about that. We haven't decided if we'll put the flames back on, like it both ways. This was this weekend at a cookout at my son's after the Memorial Day parade. That's Miss Linda, my bride of 49 years in July, riding shotgun as always.

You guys are probably sick of seeing my "not rod" 40 stake truck, but Quentin Brown shot this photo of it at the NSRA MidAm Nats this last weekend. Made the old truck look good, in spite of the bird bombs on the passenger side of the roof.

image.jpg Drove my 40 on the Bourbon Blitzkrieg Run and to the Beatersville show for the Memorial Day weekend. It was 1000 mile round trip. This picture was taken at the Buffalo trace Distillery.

Traded my '57 Chevy Windowed Delivery for this '40 Standard today. When I was a lad stationed on Ft. Bliss in the 60's I had a standard coupe, but my unit bugged out for SE Asia with less than a week's notice, so I had to sell. Never got a chance at another until now. Dropped axle, split bones, 301 Chevy w/350 trans, sorta tuck 'n' rollish interior. Gonna have lotsa fun with this .... a great stable mate for the fleet line!

Spent a 12 hr. day today at the Piggie Park Drive In, Thomaston, GA putting my '40 in a movie. The film is to be named "Founder", and it's about Ray Croc (sp?) the milkshake machine salesman who talked the McDonald brothers, who had a small hamburger joint in San Bernadino, CA into joining up with him to set up a franchising operation that has become the McDonald's Golden Arches of today. Michael Keaton is the star, playing Croc.
My '40 was one of the cars parked in the lot at a drive in that he visited while heading to the original Mickey D's.

Not all people like the same things both in appearance and in performance balanced against economy, but especially in appearance. We all have our opinions, and they do vary widely.
IMO, the '40 Ford exterior appearance needs no changes from original, and that's the way mine will stay. But I respect and defend your right to make changes in yours.
However, as rare and expensive as a '40 hood has become, louvering a '40 hood requires a lot of guts!
