It looks like a watermelon with that oblong high round roof. It needs to be painted green. All I can say is wow.

 

Even fugly don't describe that abortion.

Well they always say start high because you can always come down on price.
That is a prime example of why you set a car (even a project car) down on it's wheels roll it out where you can take some decent photos and clean it up a bit before attempting to take photos of it.

The top and port hole thing (shades of mid 70"s?) is butt ugly but the car looks like it has sat in that same spot for 30 + years and is pretty solid. Tops can be fixed.

 

just needs a carson top!

Why would anyone do that to a 51 Merc? Cut the roof off and start over.
Way over priced IMO.

The car is not far from me but, I don't have the time, money or, skills to make it right. Wouldn't mind having a Merc though.

 

Phttttt, just cut the roof odd and get a donor, you got to remove the roof to chop it anyway.

I haven't seen the entire car but the roof and window treatment would not be that hard to do away with. I doubt that the seller even owns the car he certainly doesn't know much about it. What he has done is planted key words from what he has read about cars.

 

That's my beater in my avatar, I don't have the skills to fix it either. I do know that it's not channeled and, sectioned. The guy I bought it off of, did put the port hole windows in it though.

 

Man , that Merc is ugly. Quite a shame , but to each his own , I guess.
