Always loved that car! Didn't it sell for like $60k auction??? This is my favorite era of hot rodding and this car includes just about everything that I really like about that era. Those flames....
I was lucky enough to see this car in real life. If I remember right all the striping was done by Dutch. And at some time in it's life the frame was streached for the Ardun to fit, Ill have to check I know at least when you look in the motor compartment you can see the extensions. If I come across the photos today I'll add.
I absolutely love this car and have high hopes of building a similar street/strip version someday... Malcolm

Hard to see on my phone but is it mechanical injection? Love the short wheel base and the stripes that instead of feeling like to much lend it some great personality. Too cool
I love that car ... quite the fan. SUHRsc has a close proximity racer on his threads. That style is just killer. It never goes away.
Jeffrey - I'm guessing Ryan was quoting the $55k "Hammer Price" (i.e., what Ferguson got for it) ... vice the $60.5K that the buyer (@Legendary Lars Mapstead) paid (i.e., RM typically gets a 10% commission). RM Auctions - Monterey 2011 - Lot #116

The car was bought by Tommy Traylor, owner of Specialized Auto Parts in Houston, Texas, sometime in the mid-late 60s. It was displayed in the counter area along with a few other cars in the old Specialized location at 301 Adams in Houston. At that time it had no engine or transmission or magnesium wheels. The exhaust pipe holes in the body for the original Ardun were welded up and holes for the Chrysler hemi drag motor were open. The pin striping on the car at that time was far less ornate and was signed "Jeffries" with a date of 57 or 58. Tommy sold it to one of his employees, Trip Parr, who kept for several years. He had several timing plates and a trophy that the car had won. (I don't know what happened to them.) The car was then sold to Don Ferguson in the late 70s. .
