Hot Rods '62 Unibody Smooth Tailgate Build

    The gate for my unibody was a rusty/bent mess. Decided to build a smooth gate. Lower bar is DOM with oilite bushings for smooth operation against the hinge pins. The top bar is 3/4" square tubing. All the flat metal is 16 ga. Next step is a hidden latch system. Here's a few pictures.

    Built latches and doubled the thickness of the edges and top this week.

    Did a little blending on the hinge areas.

    Thanks for posting. My old International tailgate has a mix of bolts, brass filler, and fatigue cracks. Grandpa kept it together on a budget.

    Now I have some ideas.
