Done a complete tune up yesterday. Not surprised with the look of the old parts at how worn the plugs and cap were. The new tune up really opened this beast up some, of course it's only a 305 though. Also put the rest of my dash back in.

Good start and some good advice about finishing one area like the wiring before starting on the suspension. Sometimes you will need to wait on parts etc. so more than one job at a time will be underway but like someone has said don't tear the whole thing apart at once is true. On my 57 Corvette and 47 Oldsmobile it is different as they are complete builds and will be put together then blown apart several times.

Yea I'm pretty sure she will be put together and then back apart many of times lol, I'm also sure each time will get easier to do learning tricks and stuff.

Chevy showed a hardtop in 1949 at the GM Motorama... On backroad out of Cloudis, WA. I found a '49, that trunk lid T-handle is very different from a '50.... so a few were built in 1949...Dyno Dave

Added some extra teeth a few weeks ago, holes were already drilled and the spacing is a little off.

That was how the floor looked once I pulled carpet out, guess that is the original shit in it. Layers and layers of tar paper.

Trunk is slowly coming along, I hate how the fuel filler tube is but I shortened it up some for now.

Been doing a lot of work to the 54, progress has been slow but got it lowered down and on whitewalls now. Just about got the rear end of the trunk section solid again. Any progress is better than no progress. Also have the trunk lined up nice. Need to fabricate a bracket for the trunk latch that I am installing and start doing some body work. Soon we gonna notch it and eventually I redo a lot of the trunk sheet metal to make it more seamless looking. For now trying to repair it to keep it rolling. Lots of plans and ideas but can't make them all happen over night.

Been working on rebuilding the 54 last couple weeks. Done a notch in the rear a couple months back. Tore front end off and rebuilt front suspension, all powder coated and upgraded to disc brakes with booster firewall mounted. Welded in the hood scoop hole and been doing some body work as well as rebuilt my heater. Here is a handful of pics.

My apologies kind of been off of here for a while.

The custom frame in the pics is one a friend of mine made a few years back. He built it using a M2 up front and a 01 mustang cobra IRS. I done some trading for it and had it under my 54 for a while (not running) it sat like that for a year or so. A few months back decided to trade back and get my stock 54 frame back. Stripped it down to prepare to build it with a 4 link rear and M2 kit on bags.

Discovered my original rearend was not a s10 4wd it was from a g body which is too wide. So ordered a s10 one from a junk yard.

Been making preparations to get back to work on my car she has sat far too long. Have a few things in the works, hopefully some time this year she’ll be driving again, it’s been 2 years ish since then.

I’ll post a few pics from last couple years up to this point.

Well hell guess I’ll stop with updates on my car it’s outside the rules. Evidently when I signed up I misunderstood what kustom and pre 65 was referring to. Whatever thanks for the feedback

Go ahead and lock it, been gone for 2 years anyhow I can be gone again

Personally I think Independent front suspension is Independent front suspension No Matter What car it came out of. Is a MII or a Corvair or a Chevell Cilp or Camaro clip any different. For Christ sakes we are comparing Apples to Apples, what the difference? I personately think if you can't see it and it's safe who give a damn. Some one on here thinks all cars should have mechanical brakes, banjo rear ends and 3 speed transmission and flat motors and skinned tires all the way around.
Diversity is what make this hobby work. We see what other people try and what works and what doesn't work. It helps make the cars we build safer and more reliable and fun to drive. And if something breaks 1500 miles. From home you can go to the local parts store in BFE and get the part and continue on the way with minimum down time .
Sorry for preaching but that's MHO. Frank

Also, the car looks so much better with the changes you've made since you bought it.
When I posted stuff when I had mine, I just didn't post anything about the modern stuff that's questionable.

    Thank you.

Looking at picking up a few items to allow me to do more work on the body to right some wrongs that have been done and do some things better. Such as the hood. I ditched the hood scoop but basically done it wrong with filling the massive torch cut hole. So found a few threads with info on basically fixing that and a way to peak it properly. So I may give it a go after some practicing. I have that and some body mounts/inner rockers to replace. Need to hone my body working skills though but guess that’s what these are all about the learning and the journey.
