image.jpg Finally got my wheels... Americanracing 200's daisy wheels. Looks real close to the movie car.

  2. The car looks GREAT! This is the way a 55 should be! Dont let that chevy work against a two bit piece of junk. LOL! And dont forget the hard boiled eggs!!:D:D

I thinks we need a video of it running. Where in PA are you? I would like to run in to that at a show.

  4. looks good, if I had one I'd want the "shitty" paint job (primer) that the movie car had,

As much as I like how the recreated "tribute" cars turn out, I have to agree with rusty1 on this, the new builds just don't quite hit the mark in the "rough around the edges" look.

  6. That rough around the edges look only comes with miles and smiles. ;)

I have discovered in my time that it is way easier to build crusty, rough old heap than it is to copy one. :)

Love your car and thanks for starting a thread on it. I'm curious how you went about building the sliding plex-glass windows. What did you use for runners (I assume the rear half is fixed) or just details on how you did that.
    Great Car!

  8. I don't know how he did it but we used to cut down the channels from a Hillman wagon. I think that '50s ramblers had sliding glass as well as ford ranch wagons. If that is any help.

Thanks for the compliments. Don't let the pics full you, she is definitely a little "rough around the edges". The slide windows are made out of the tracks from some old aluminum storm windows off a house.. Both pieces of plexy slide. They can also be lifted up to come out compleatly. Has the fussy side of stick on Velcro on the bottom so they don't rattle and also stop them from sliding open on take off. Works good! Also, if any one has any ideas on how to make the black rain streaks on the primer like the movie car, I'm all ears. image.jpg

This is the movie car that just sold at Barrett Jackson this winter. It was restored to look just like it did in the movie... So I know there is a way to make the primer look like that. image.jpg

  15. Acid rain. You can't imagine how many times I have gone out in the rain and couldn't even cop a buzz.

The guy that restored the originalcar splashed it with mineral spirits.
Go to the two lane website, it's listed in the story.

That's the first thing I thought; peanut port heads? I guess you have to use what you have, and I've heard they work fine on the street and on the track to about 5K. It's still a hot rod, and may be one that's overdone, but we all like em' done up like the TLB 55. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Will you have it at the Downshifters Fink show at the Hilltop AA Club in Oakford, PA? The show is May 23rd.

image.jpg Finally got some time today to take her out for a ride... Nothing sounds better than a big block banging through the gears! My neighbors may disagree, though.

Do they make tunnel rams for those ports?

  26. What's it like driving with the sliding windows open? Every time I watch TLB, that question comes to mind.

They work ok... I know I will miss the wing windows as soon as summer comes. The toughest thing is seeing past that damn hood scoop! But it's staying to complete the look.

I ended up painting the exhaust from the header out, black. Looks much better than all white. It's starting to look pretty damn close. Now I just need some bad actors and a GTO to race. ;) image.jpg

Make it three yards and we'll have an automobile race.
