Tonight will be 6 weeks after the accident with a friend in my 33 truck. For anyone interested I have had a couple weeks of physical therapy in my home. Working on bending knees and still no weight bearing on legs yet. My left leg was the most busted up and I can bend it the most. The right leg/knee seems to be more stubborn and not wanting to bend as much.
Dealing with insurance co. on the truck. Yesterday they gave me figures and what it cost to buy it back. At least I have idea now what my choices are.
    Thanks everyone.

  6. Hopefully you will get settled up with the insurance soon and good to hear the physical therapy is helping,I know how painful it is when they start bending a joint that flat out hurts like hell so I sympathize for you...hang in there,it will get better.

    BTW,how is your friend? HRP

Thanks HRP. She is doing good from what she says. Sounds like she might be off crutches in a few weeks. :). I heard a family member gave her crap about old cars. She told them she will still ride, own and work on them. :)

I am going to see my doc on Thursday. This will roughly be the 8 week mark after accident. Hope the xrays show some good signs.

Well its a new year. My right leg I can put 100℅ weight or pressure on it. It is healing well. Left leg has only been 25% weight on it. I have been going to physical therapy and beginning of December I could finally get my knees to bend 90°. Right before Xmas I used a walker and was able to walk 50ft for the first time. It felt good to get out of wheel chair. The last few weeks I have been able to achieve a few new things.
I try to use walker for short distance and will use wheel chair for those longer walks. I will go back to doctor this week and hope to see some healing in left leg. Thanks everyone. Hope all have a good new year.

  15. Good to hear you are making positive progress and may the new year bring full recovery and be able to put it all behind you. Are you planning on rebuilding your pick up? JW :)

  16. Glad you're up and semi around. I was fortunate with my accident to only need crutches and a cane (wheel chair & walker in hospital only). But take it as a major accomplishment to see any progress. I was totally thrilled to graduate to a cane!

I'm glad to hear that Scott and his gal are healing up and will eventually recover.
I know personally that it can be a long road with these physical issues.
It's just not the same as rebuilding a broken piece of machinery.

One thing to consider (depending on the type of insurance that was carried on the truck ) might be to have a pro shop handle the rebuild.
If it turns out to be a while before he is physically able to get to the rebuild, having the truck fixed could be a big boost to his spirits.
A friend had a fire in his almost finished 50 pickup from a fuel line leak.
He suffered some burns to his hands, nothing really serious but his insurance paid to have a local rod shop do all the repairs.
The truck came out very nice. :)

glad to hear you are on the mend. No doubt due to special treatment by Nurse Tina.

I hope to see you in Dubuque for Retro Rewind. Let me know when you will be there.

Well I walked (with crutches) most of the Cedar Rapids IA swap meet last Saturday. It was tuff but I did most of it. I drove the Vicky yesterday. Glad to be able to drive manual transmissions again. :D
