  4. Nice bachelor pad... but you probably would have a hard time selling SWMBO on it. And I wonder what (if any) zoning issues he had.

  5. Wonderfully, out of the box. Tim

  8. He could get away with it here no problem. Well there are a few exceptions but mostly not a problem. it is harder to turn a house into a business than a business into a house.

I love this. We love the French Quarter and this would make a perfect home. I've always dreamed of making our house look like an old shop or gas station. But we always seem to move to the boonies on dead end roads. Only a few would ever see it so I just add a few signs and license plates here and there.
Maybe when we move to the next place back in Illinois I will take my signs and crap and figure out how to piss off the neighbors. I have two working traffic lights and a bunch of signs left over. What better place to do something slightly similar than on Memory Lane back home?
Way back before all this was cool some older friends had an old visible fuel pump right on the main street amd a bunch of old Packards and other cars. I remember when the fire department checked it out.

  15. Nice! Needs some gas pumps outside, maybe to water the flowers!

Neat idea, but I'm not sure my wife would go for it.

    Would make a cool bar.

If you tried to turn your house into a gas station
you would have a problem. Turning a gas station into
a house , no problem. I have seen this place,
but not the interior. I really like it!

  18. Wife would never go for living in a gas station, but I have my eye on an old radio station that's for sale. Just have to figure out what to do with the transmission tower in the back yard.

  19. Very nice!! A lot of cool details.

^big bucks there for 'renting' property on your tower.

  25. Very cool and what hot rodder or custom guy wouldn't love to live in a old gas station?

The only problem I can think of is the underground gas tank/tanks removal and the possible ground contamination and having to deal with DHEC and the expense involved,,having had property next door to a abandon station DHEC did a lot of bore holes in my parking lot checking for contamination, fortunately I got a clean bill of health.

That aside,I would love to live in a gas station or a old fire station. HRP

There is a show that my wife and I really enjoy on HGTV called You live in What?
A lot of really cool old buildings have been converted to homes.
Some old fire halls too Danny.
A good show if you like this kind of thing. We do. :)

But why the Gulf logo and not a Sinclair Dino. Looks cool as hell anyway. Kitchen would have been cool with old porcelain shop cabinets.

Wonder what the toy cars are, I mean WERE worth?

    And another thing...

clemdaddy here on the HAMB did the same with an old Sinclair station in Fayetteville, Arkansas a number of years ago. His place was featrued on the HGTV show.. He had to put a fence around the property because people kept coming to him to have their cars repaired.
