I pulled it apart checked the rod and main bearings, cleaned up the ports in the iron heads the best I could (better heads aren't in the budget at this time). I installed a Comp Cams K35-234-3 (XE256H-10 with lifters, springs, & chain) that should let it breathe better. Topped it off with a used Edelbrock performer and painted it y-block red in an attempt to make it look a little more at home under the hood. (maybe...)

I'm using the factory 1990 serpentine drive, and wanted to use a newer 3g alternator (Ford 1 wire). The best fitting one I could find (96-ish F150 130amp) still needed the ear trimmed to get it to fit. A little more paint and here it is.
Distributor is a Pertronix, valve covers are vintage Cal-Customs.

I picked up an AOD from a 2 owner 92 mustang with 89k on it, the new owner was swapping to a 5 speed so he gave me all the auto trans stuff for $250. Cleaned up, new gaskets all around, and paint.

    Thanks.
We've got somewhere around 4 or 5 feet outside my door, and the temp has been -10 to 15 for a few weeks. It gives you time to sit in the garage and work. In between clearing snow of course.

Looking good. I've just finished my frame and got it back on wheels. Just started working on the cab.

Just received some rear cab mounts and a right cowl panel from Mid Fifties today.

Really nice work. I have a 52 F1 that I plan on finishing as soon as my 38 project is complete. I plan on keeping the 8BA with a three speed column. It has a dropped front axle with every other leaf removed. Very similar to what you are doing. You are doing great work...

Just remembered you might consider a 9" from a late 50's era truck. The one I secured for 200.00 had new brakes and drums its a 3.00 and a bolt-in. I used a 9" yoke from a station wagon and the drive shaft fit.

Thanks, good luck with your 52.

I've had my eye out for an early posi 9" just haven't come across any yet so the Dana 44 will have to work for now.

They did fit fairly good considering both cab arms where broken, and the floor and cab mount on the drivers side was rotted. Hopefully when I put it back together the doors will line up again, from what I understand they are tough to get lined up...

I made a trans mount based off the ones you see in most of the catalogs. Probably should have just bought one but I already had the steel and didn't want to wait for UPS to start my engine mounts.

Here is my first attempt at engine mounts. After installing I found that the pivot between the stock style mount and my long frame arm allowed the frame to twist in a little at the top.

I decided to try some flat head style mounts and made mounting brackets that stick out from the engine instead of the frame, I cut back my first arms to work as perches for the mount. This set up puts the weight of the engine is on top of the frame.

Great work on those mounts' position. Excellent gusseting underneath, I also see you left the stock F100 center crossmember in.
Some 'experts' saw mine was still in there, and enlightened me with "You didn't have to leave that member in there..." I laughed, and said, "Take yours out, then..."
I moved my engine back and the steel lower flywheel cover is still easy to get in and out.
As Gene Boul suggested, I also have a 9" rear, out of a '60 pickup. 3.00 ratio, one legged...Nice, as the saddles lined right up with my rear springs.
I was in a hurry to install the rear, it was on a Saturday and I had to load everything up to go to the drags the next morning. Zip, snap! It was in.

Up to and including 79 actually. I know someone who bolted a 78 rear axle in his 50.

Most of the time I've spent on the truck over the last 6 months has been hammering dents out of the cab and fixing all the extra holes people put in the firewall over the years. I also replaced all the factory Ford knock-outs for options that I would not be using (vacuum wipers and such)to keep it factory looking. Not much for photos on that, but its in epoxy primer now and I'm back to working on it more consistently.
