Is *anyone (*more than a few) interested in me 'attempting' to scan & post this complete (August '69) CC piece? Its long, with tiny font, so I would have to do it in 7 or 8 increments. At least for me, scanning and posting text is difficult and tricky -- Colesy was/is certainly a scanner WIZ!

Today is April 11 . In EXACTLY 3 ( three) months from today the York Musclecar Madness show will be happening. The schedule for Saturday at the show is jammed packed . There is a lot going on. The JUNIOR STOCK drivers meeting will be occurring at 10 A.M. In the Expo center. I whined to Darwin until he finally got tired and let us have 10 A.M. Spot. There has been a ton of topics to be discussed and we have the private area ( inside the main door to the right ) for as long as we want to take full advantage of the topics of conversation. The racers from back then have chimed in with a great group of ideas which I'll post as it gets closer to the actual show. We will have fun, see old friends and there are guys towing in from California, Kansas, Texas and there's still cars signing in.
Don't miss it. If you ever liked, raced, dreamed or thought about a Junior Stocker, make this show. The following day is the Junior Stock showdown at Beaver Springs . It was nicknamed " The Big Go at Beaver " and that stuck so that's the following day. It'll be like 1969 all over again. Be a part of it.....we have plenty of chairs in the conference area. Just come sit and listen if you don't want to talk. It'll be worth it. Thanks. Sorry for the post but where else can a Junior Stock meeting get traction ( pun intended) if not here???

I believe the N.H.R.A. has made a number of mistakes over the years and the 15 year rule and ending Modified Production were just two of the rules that made some drag racers start looking at racing with other sectioning bodies.

Both classes were very popular and many wondered what why the N.H.R.A. did not see that.

    Just my opinion. Jimbo

Thanks for posting up the 15 year rule. It is interesting to get the perspective from the writer as viewed from 1969. Racers must have been seriously pissed. No wonder so many used up tri 5s were sitting around in the 70s

And the same with spectators. Drag racing was never as much fun to watch after this.

We gotta remember too, this was the era when floppers were all the rage, gassers, match racers, exhibition wheelstanders, fire burnouts, BIG rivalries, & so on. As much as we look back & love 'em, the stocker ranks (and all the intricate rules & inspections involved) were probably viewed by the brass as becoming more of a P-I-T-A than worth it (in relation to the BIG $how). Damn shame, & I don't agree with it, but $$ is what it always comes down to. The little guys were the bread & butter in the beginning, and got kicked in the teeth in the end.

And bracket racing ain't drag racing. You can lose and still win.
