Technical 2" or 2 1/4" long shackle?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by gwhite, Apr 2, 2015.

  1. Heya fellas, trying to source a set of 2 or 2 1/4" long (bolt to bolt - not width) shackles...I think 42-48 Ford front shackles may be close, but don't have a set to measure.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Couldn't you get some made at your local spring shop?

  3. Yup, or I could make 'em myself...still, would like to find a factory part made to those specs.

Neilinca has a thread called Dropping a Deuce. Not what you are thinking!

He says he used a 9 leaf reversed eye spring and 41 2 1/2" shackles.

  5. Ya got this web search engine in your computer????

Try C&G Ford Parts. I've had good luck with them on lots of small parts.

  6. Bump for today...anyone got a 42-48 Ford front and/or rear shackle they could measure for me? Don't care about shackle width (spring width), just need something with 2" or 2 1/4" bolt spacing.

I thought all stock '32-'48 Ford shackles were 2". 4"or 6" shackles were the cheap-but-sloppy way to lower an early Ford in the '40s and '50s.
