Event Coverage Amelia Island photos, March 2015

2nd try... Here are my images of Amelia Island. The show is just so big you almost can't see it all, and there is such a big crowd it's hard to take the pix you want. So I'll apologize in advance for all the extraneous arms, legs, signs and fenders around the edges - not to mention the headless folks in the background. I think this is my fourth or possibly fifth visit and once you get past the sticker shock of $100 ea (the free, excellent catalog does soften the blow) the sea of outstanding cars that awaits will probably overwhelm you. The craftsman ship in the cars is what gets me the most, regardless of their era, purpose or historical significance. They are amazing builds. Gary

I bet it's sensory overload looking at all those fine shapes, finishes, and textures! Very cool.

 

That is one of the events on my someday list. Lets see more of what you saw.

 

Ok, things are working better... Note: the last two images in this group are not mine, but I didn't get a good overall shot of the crowd or the Allard, so I snuck them in. Gary

 

Round three of lumpy gravy - hot rods and "specials" - my favorites. I skipped photos of all the racing Porsches, Corvettes, etc. but there were a slug of the coolest ones on earth there, too. Gary

 

And more... hot rods and the 50's Forgotten Fiberglass sports car specials.

 

The best for last? I just love old pre-war Alfas and the Stovebolt Special is just the coolest sports rod, ever. Gary

 

Hee Hee, it lives among the Wine and Roses crowd (but still in the background).

WOW! A Birdcage Maserati! I have to see one of those before I move on.

 

The proportions on this car couldn't be worse. Sad to see it among all those beauties...

 

This is strange. Appears to be a '33 Ford Victoria, chopped and otherwise modified to resemble the Blue Train Bentley. Did Steve Moal have anything to do with this? Does it belong to Eric Zausner?

 

Ok, I fail my early modified test...whose is this?

Great pictures Gary...and thanks for not including any porches or corvettes. Loved the early East coast rods and the fiberglass Victress and Kellison. The setting is fantastic, was there in 2004 and won my class.

The first thing I tought of when I saw that car was that it must be one of Posie's. After looking again I noticed the hood ornament and would definitely say it was.
