OK I count 8 but that's me. You may have the opinion that overweight people is a new thing, but the facts are quite different. Humans have always come in ALL sizes. Here is a pic of William Howard Taft the 27th president of the United States. He weighed 354 in 1909. Also the first president to own an automobile at the White House. He had carriage houses converted to house his White Steamer And name calling really isn't needed.
Yes, you see correctly. I remember the ads for that aftermarket roof in Automotive News and I think it was in Motor Trend and Hot Rod. They were aftermarket fiberglass things that required 3 men and a boy to remove. They fit Chevys, Pontiacs, Oldsmobile's. I'm uncertain if you could fit on to a early or mid 60's Cadillac. I saw only one in my life. It was on a car at the Concord Auto Auction back in the early 60's. I remember the car was a dark blue with the roof done in a lighter blue color. I think it had a pebbly finish like a fake vinyl roof. My memory is a little fuzzy but I'm thinking it was a 62 Bonneville or Catalina. Only one I ever saw.
When I was in the Navy stationed in Jacksonville, FL, I would always have my trusty Kodak Instamatic camera with me and I would grab photos of any car that looked interesting to me. These are all around 1967.
I thought so too - Love the rope tying the youngster up - something that the PC brigade would thump you for these days but totally acceptable back then. And for them to picture all of the children with a dead deer LOL Priceless
This is the best thread, in my opinion, on the HAMB. I study it in great detail 3 or 4 times daily. A real look back in time that you'll find nowhere else. Thanks Ryan and thank you to all the many contributors.
You are a very, very wise man. So many times I think back to the photos that I should have taken back in the 60's -- my cars, my friends' cars or simply interesting cars of the times. Thanks for sharing.
