I just narrowed an 8.8 rear for my shoebox and it came out great. Just wondering if anybody knows where I can find replacement emergency brake cables or of any universal type set ups. If anybody is looking for a stock 49-51 ford rear I have one in complete working order drum to drum with good brakes. Feel free to email me [email protected] for more info and pics if interested.

  2. NAPA should have a listing. Is the 8.8 drum also? If so, the original style should work.

It is drum as well. I'll give Napa a try thank you

  4. Why not take the stock ones off the old rear axle and install them on the new one? They are a direct install into the 8" drum brakes. To get the stock unit out of the backing plate hole just use the closed end of a box end wrench. It will pull the fingers together and just yank the cable out of the hole.

Pist-n-broke you're no joke. That worked perfectly. Thank you for the insight.
