Google Earth 960 E. Cotati Ave., Cotati, CA., 94931. It sits right at the railroad tracks. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151787684309919.1073741825.115656574918&type=3 http://northbaydigital.sonoma.edu/cdm/search/searchterm/Cotati Speedway/mode/exact
I think he is asking about the Cotati Drag Strip which was about where Costco is today. The track on E Cotati Ave. was a 1 1/4 mile oval board track and was active in 1921 and 1922 only, and then abandoned and dismantled.
No pics of cars at the track but here is some info about the Cotati race track. http://www.tamsoldracecarsite.net/Cotati1.html
Thanks ,but I know all of that. We had a dairy there. I did get to race the last race at the track. I think that was 72-73.. I'll keep posting .Thanks again.
Cotati brings back great memories for my family. My dad liked that track a lot and won plenty of races there. This is my dad in 1959 in his Alfa My dad driving his buddy's MGA, I think this is about 1961. This car was pretty quick for its class. He drove the Porsche drivers nuts. A friend of theirs worked for Standard Oil and gave them some go juice to add to the gas. They really liked the results when they followed the guys directions. So they added the rest of the can and the thing was catching the bigger class cars and went up like a grenade on the straight.
Try one more, these might be a little late for you, pics from Cotati enduro, 1961. Same web site as the track info..... http://www.tamsoldracecarsite.net/Daniells00Homepage.html
Very cool photos. My brother and I did a road race there in late 70s.It was fun. My brother was the better driver ,so he drove and I wrenched. We went on to road race for the next 25 years. Had a shop at Sears Point. Had way to much fun!
I know a bunch of people have/had shops at Sears Point, Jim Groom did vintage sports cars, Mike Giddons had Robin Automotive, Mike Fellows has In-Motion t-shirt printing, Marc Kirberg driving instructor, Skip Berg owned the track for awhile. Any of those names ring a bell ?
I think Skip, It's been about 20 years when we were done with it. But my brother is going to do some Trans am racing again. Iam not doing this round, well maybe just a little. It will be fun.One week a year on the salt is all I need.
I never raced Cotati ran Sears Point with Steve Jones Dick Raymond Albert Butterfield Heinz Eckhart Terry Herman & more had Leo & Son San Rafael
My dad built this sports racer for his friend Jack. I think this is an Elva. Testing at Cotati in 68. My dad behind the wheel showing Jack the ropes. I really like the early sports racers
Hoping someone has some. Going over to get the 32 out of mothballs,so he and my aunt can go get some burgers.
5 years late, but I just stumbled across this post. I lived in Cotati 1962 to 1972. My father took me to the Cotati drag strip circa 1967 when I was 5 years old. I was hooked. Although I don't have any personal photos, I found one! Courtesy of: https://wediditforlove.com/NoCal.html
