I think he is asking about the Cotati Drag Strip which was about where Costco is today. The track on E Cotati Ave. was a 1 1/4 mile oval board track and was active in 1921 and 1922 only, and then abandoned and dismantled.

Cotati brings back great memories for my family. My dad liked that track a lot and won plenty of races there.

My dad driving his buddy's MGA, I think this is about 1961. This car was pretty quick for its class. He drove the Porsche drivers nuts. A friend of theirs worked for Standard Oil and gave them some go juice to add to the gas. They really liked the results when they followed the guys directions. So they added the rest of the can and the thing was catching the bigger class cars and went up like a grenade on the straight.

Very cool photos. My brother and I did a road race there in late 70s.It was fun. My brother was the better driver ,so he drove and I wrenched. We went on to road race for the next 25 years. Had a shop at Sears Point. Had way to much fun!

  8. I know a bunch of people have/had shops at Sears Point, Jim Groom did vintage sports cars, Mike Giddons had Robin Automotive, Mike Fellows has In-Motion t-shirt printing, Marc Kirberg driving instructor, Skip Berg owned the track for awhile. Any of those names ring a bell ?

Uncle Albert is a friend of mine. I've done a few motorcycle trips with him also.

My dad built this sports racer for his friend Jack. I think this is an Elva.
Testing at Cotati in 68. My dad behind the wheel showing Jack the ropes.

5 years late, but I just stumbled across this post. I lived in Cotati 1962 to 1972. My father took me to the Cotati drag strip circa 1967 when I was 5 years old. I was hooked. Although I don't have any personal photos, I found one! Cotati-1959.png
