Anyone have done this? Modified/made one by yourself, nothing fits because of the steeringbox. Really hate the upperbracket I have, so thinking of making one from scratch Please post pics of your enginebays!
I have used late 60's smog pump brackets that put the alternator just to the right of center on the engine but getting the belt tension right is a bit tricky without and idler pulley.
With a low bracket they work well on the pass side. Don't know how much room you have. They actually make a pass side low mount.
There was a nice lower alternator bracket in this thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/guernsey-boys-model-a-coupe-build.556599/page-18
Totally forgot to search first..sorry! I want it mounted low, driversside and cleared from steeringbox and exspecially for a sbc in a 1949-52 chevrolet. Saw Kivi Kev bracket in this thread http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/home-made-alternator-brackets-sbc.809869/page-2
Why not fabricate something similar to the Alan Grove bracket and mount it on the opposite side of the block? HRP
