I would love to see more of that Belair, it looks like it is pretty hot! ;)

That Impala is on it's way to becoming just a part of the landscape, what with them leaving the hood and trunk lid open to make it easier for the foliage to take it over.

This one is completely original. It's even got old registration and carless days stickers on the windscreen from '79/'80. (click here to learn about carless days)

The bloke pointing to it is the owner and he also owns the orange Datsun. Chalk and cheese.

  8. The "Leprechaun" 58 Impala in it's nicest more understated form before the wild panel paint job.

The fourth picture in post #236 was my uncles car! It was built in 1958 and when the original owner got beat in a drag race by a new 59 he sold it. That's when my uncle bought it. It had a 348 with 3 two barrels and a 3 speed, I rode in it as a baby of about 2 ! Another aunt fell asleep driving it and flipped it end over end in about 1963, that was the end of it

I own a 58 apache with the paint code "special". It is two tone gold and beige. I was told this paint scheme was to commemorate chevy's 50 th anniversary. Do you perhaps know anything about the rarity of the vehicles factory produced with this option? Or somewhere it can be found? Thanks in advance.

  12. Centurion - the driver better buckle up so he doesn't slide off the seat!
That's what we used to say about ''Hi Jacked'' street cars in the day..

Thanks for the info on your uncles car... must have brought back some memories...
Always wonder if the cars from back in the day are still around...

The HAMB helping show the 'small world' deal again. That is really cool to hear about that you recognize it as your uncle's, but sad that his 58 was destroyed, hopefully your aunt wasn't hurt badly in that accident.

  15. At that time, we used to slide low in the seat and hook our left hands around the wing windows....Rake ot not, we thought it looked cool......It was never about the car, it was about "imagining" ourselves to be cool.....:)

It's always interesting to see the different approaches on paint schemes on cars.

  19. Elgringo.....I'm not sure why...maybe because I was around as a kid during the heyday of Custom Cars, but when I see one from "the day", it always grabs me differently than cars built today. Very few guys can capture that look as it really was. I love it when they do, but it's not often.....Centurion9

This belonged to a friend of mine who passed away last year. Both Frank and the car were as nice as they come. The car was passed down to his son.

Jim, thanks for sharing the pictures, personally I can't imagine having a green interior in a yellow car, just shows that beauty is in the eye of thebeholder, or is that beerholder? :rolleyes:o_O:eek::rolleyes:

  24. 58cchevy - Yellow cars usually aren't my thing, but that one really 'pops'.
The abundant chrome sets it off so nice.

Yellow with green insides is the way chevrolet made it and is factory correct, granted, this one is a bit to bright yellow, should be colonial cream outside, with green interior

I understand that, it is just a case of me not thinking it is anything I would want, so I would have never considered buying that color combination. JMO
