I have been side tracked for the last 3 months or so, but did start working on the old Fordor again.

I welded up a bunch of holes in the dash...

Then did a hand rubbed black lacquer job, to make it look kinda old and not stick out like a sore thumb...

I rolled the body outside and started cleaning up the floor and subrails...

Had some welding to do on the rear floor pan...

Now I need to stand the body on its nose and clean up, the underside. Then it'll be time to go back on the chassis pretty soon.

    Until then...

I made a little more progress...

We tipped the body on end so I could replace a section of subrail..

Then laid it back down and I brushed some Rustoleum primer on the floors...

We set the body on the chassis late one night...

And then started cutting and fitting floor boards.

And then made up some floor tins...

Put some sealer on the wood and painted the tins...

    And then this happened...

    And here are both Fordors.

Fenders are still on the agenda, I just wanted to start logging some miles and working the bugs out.

Lovin' it, Neal, it looks great. Bet it drives sweet too, with one of your nice steering boxes in it.

Neal, Great job on both your 4-doors, your ability to recycle all the original parts is inspiring. I like them with fenders!!!!!

Even though the patina does not match, I think it helps to complete the car.

  24. That's about perfect.
I love your style and method of building old Fords
I notice that clip on mirror, I have one identical to it.
No idea to the history or origin though

I've been driving the car, finishing up loose ends and fixing minor problems as I go. Put some STRAIGHT pipes on the car, all the way out the back with belled ends. Pretty quiet until you put your foot in it.

Overall it's a great running and driving car. Been venturing out a little further each time.

Did about 50 miles a couple of weeks ago...

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

And then ended up driving over a 100 miles on my annual hot rod run last weekend. Here we are at a couple of stops.

Four door Deuces are the latest "IN" car to build. I love'm! Nice job Neal — maybe a roadster/coupe next!

Maybe after 7WLarry buys this one, I'll build a 5W...haha

Hey Steve, nothing has changed, I do own one GM vehicle with a SBC...that is what the 3x2 intake is for...not an old Ford!
