  1. There is no mention of a problem with coil springs in the SEG rules. HRP

Yes our rules say you can run coil springs if they are bigger like a factory 60's car. The ones I have on back are 5 inch springs. And will be painted black to look like factory coil springs. Now that's only on the back of cars. And the adjusters are hidden up in trunk so you can't see them.

I'm not sure I bought the rears from Quain and found the fronts on e-bay. They are china knock-offs. But I sold them and changed them a old vintage set of slots...

Made the new steering arms these are a lot lighter. Mounted the front shocks. And mounted the steering stabilizer we use a VW one. They are small and you can hide it behind the front beam.....

These are the front brakes. I took a 1950 chevy car hub and machined it to fix a Strange strut rotor. And made brackets to bolt on Wilwood 4 piston calipers.. They don't make drag brakes for the 1959 chevy truck axle I used...

This is awesome. I might steal this. My idea for good front brakes was 77 camaro rotors with the speedway gm metric caliper brackets and wilwood d52 calipers. But your idea is much lighter. Nice work. Are you going to get tapered bearings for the hubs?

  11. You aren't lying about that! I put a little dent in the top of my 66's fender just leaning on my elbow while I was reaching in to adjust the timing! D@mn things are seriously thin!

    Chris--
I think GM put them there, cause they knew we would be hopp'n up them little Chevy II's.
Many years ago when my 67 was being bodyworked,(fenders off car) my bud had them perfect, including NOS pass. side, bolted them back on and they looked liked you could surf on them.
Just consider them battle scars on your race car.

Love the ideas in this build. Got me rethinking the rear suspension on my Studebaker.

We got the fiberglass in finally. One piece frontend and doors from VFN. Now the hard part of fitting them...

Good progress Chris! Have you selected a paint color yet? I'll be at Knoxville Dragstrip May 30th and look forward to seeing you and the car if it's finished in time (that goes for the '51 bullet nose Stude Quain is building too).

They fit real good. But I ordered VFN post doors. And the door part fit good but the upper post part I'm steal working on.. If I had to do over I would have bought hard top doors and made my own post for them.. All in all very good stuff...

I have a question for the ChevyII guys watching this build. I have a 67 ChevyII post. I installed a Heidts super ride front suspension and an early 427 / 700r4. Heidts told me that Sanderson BB7 headers will work with this set up. The driver side fit perfect but the pass side, no way.
Any suggestions? Don't want to steal this thread so PM me direct, Thanks
