Hello! Just introducing myself to the group. I have been into cool and fast street cars since 1966, when I bought my first 1957 Chevy BelAir hardtop for $500. It had a 292 ci V8, 4:11 gears, 3-speed with Hurst yo-yo shifter, roll and pleated green naughahyde interior, dark-tinted windows and was painted 1955 Willis mint-green metallic... the paint job cost $39 at Bebricks on Broadway. I traded that car in for a 1969 Ford Mustang, red Sportsroof (NOT a Mach1) with a 351, 3 speed... put a Holly 715 cfm on it, Hooker headers, Mallory dual-point, and 3:89 gears., with BIG Hooker header decals on the front fenders... around that time I joined the Banzai Bandits car club via Steve Smith. Back then I was friends with hotrodders Wayne Warncke, Harry Sauter, Allan Hastings, Edgar Boeck, Steve Smith, Pat Schober, and many others whose names have crept out of my memory banks. Today I have a red and white 1957 Chevy BelAir 4-dr, with ZZ430 clone engine, hedman headers, Carter 750 cfm, Ford 9 inch with Currie 4:11s, TH350 (from a 1972 Chevelle!), Ansen Sprint wheels. I am looking forward to connecting with some old time street racers...
