Looks like the leading portion of the manifold has been ground on, so likely the bolt nub is what's left of the original cast in bracket that had been cut away.
No wonder the 'ol boy sold it, it was nickel and diming him to death! Seriously, what a wonderful time capsule. Keep your own journal B.
As much as I love my '60s-style hot rods, this is what I would want to drive to work everyday. Really well done @Ryan and everyone involved. And best of all...it's green! What could be better?
It's funny, one of the thoughts I had while reading Roger's journal entries was that of his honesty to himself. I mean, when you drive an old car everyday, you are constantly buying small things here and there to stay on the road. Even with my '64 F100 daily I do this... BUT, I just don't think I could stomach knowing how much I am spending. I just don't want to know, because if I did I probably wouldn't feel as frugal as I do. "Hey, I don't have a car payment... but I am spending $300 a month at the parts store!" But Roger? He had no qualms about recording every last penny that he spent on that car. However, there are times in those journal entries when you can almost sense Roger's resentment as he was writing down an expense... So awesome.

Best Thread/post of 2015, hands down....and....for the record, I love 32 cabs and 32 more-doors....always have been my favorites and no one is re-pressing them either! That documentation....wow....that stuff is worth its weight in gold....I keep receipts, but nothing like that, although it does have my gears spinning...and yes, you can almost hear the bellyaching in some of the recorded expenses....just too cool!

Having just passed the 70 year old marker in the hi way of life, this post grabbed me and won't let go. I keep reading it over and over and hoping some "young" buck will be pulling my 5-window out of my garage and getting just as stoked, hopefully many years down the road some day. Bryan you have a big responsibility to the history of the car and Rodger, hope you guys stay in touch. I'm sure there was tear in Rodger's eye as he closed that garage door that day!

The really funny log entry was the fuel tank inlet being blocked by a ration stamp. Bet that was fun to figure out.
Gotta say it's good to see that so many of you guys appreciate Rogers journey with this car. The "bones" of this write up is just that. He wasn't trying to win at shows or be something else, he was an everyday guy with a passion for his cars. I'm gonna try and get a hold of him and show him the love and respect. Thanks guys Going through life, you gotta meet men like Roger along the way.
That was my favorite too... I've been there. And I think most of us have... Scabs on your head from scratching so damned much. This brings up something I've been thinking a lot about lately. The H.A.M.B. has thinned out enough over the past year (for various reasons) that I feel comfortable again. It feels more like the early days when the people that are here are mostly the people that truly get it... I guess there are more people here for the right reasons now... And I love that. I'm just really, really liking the HAMB right now. It feels good again. And it's little comments like this that have made it that way. It would make my year if Roger saw all of this.
Reading this brings home that it's really the people we meet along the way that matter. In the end all we have are one another. Thanks for sharing this - it made my day! Thinking that passing on our own cars someday we all have the potential to be "Roger" to some young person that "gets it".
