Can't take the credit I'm afraid, a guy I know just went self employed as a panel beater, he's usualy on rolls and bentley so he does a good job Filled and Leaded boot/trunk lid And my two
Sounds like a good friend to have, the shoebox is looking good. Looks like a sweet roadster too, must turn some heads over there.
Also sorted out some music by gutting the original radio in favour of I pod connection and a 12v converter Next up some 53 merc headlights, twin exhaust with badger bumper exhaust tips and fingers crossed 53 Packard side trim
Very nice ride! Love the coupes! Great ideas you have so far, Gutting the OG radio was brilliant! I never would have thought of that. How much fitting did that license plate guard require? Did you get and OG or repop? Im thinking about doing that on my 50 also. How are you popping the trunk after shaving the trunk? -Chris
A friend did the license plate, it's a re pop. He made a template of the bumper and marked it out, it was about 1/4 inch at the deepest point from memory something had to be done with the mounting bolts but not a lot, quality isn't great but it's starting to match the 60 year old chrome pretty quick! The trunk is popped by a lever under the bumper we flipped the latch and but the lever through the floor , it's not ideal but I'm still 6v so finding a soloniod was an issue
Lucky he got it from Utah... rare to see sheet metal below the door handles in Wisconsin as Big A can attest!
I'm really pleased how the side trim came out, fits around the fender skirt perfectly. That red fog light makes it look angry, is it a police part or something ? I also had the car tuned on the rolling road , made 70hp and 130lbsft all right for a 65 year old stock 8ba on a dyno that reads a little low, most important thing is it now drives really smooth. I've done a few mundane jobs to, new clutch balanced with the flywheel, got the overdrive fully functional mostly new window runner s and seals, replaced the backing boards of a few trim panels and cleaned the interior, oh and raised the floor for drive shaft clearance
Man I thought it was red also. I was thinking that would get you in trouble around here. KFC your car looks great man.
You said you raised the drive tunnel.....that seems to be fairly common on shoeboxes (not 55-57 chevies), however, I lowered my 51 coupe 7" in the rear (4" dearched springs with 3" blocks) and the front springs heated and have never had a rubbing problem. Lucky I guess...go figure.
