You scared me, for a moment I thought some new guy had posted his new rat rod. Looks like fun if my kids would ever produce a grand kid for me to play legos with.

Too bad I don't have a picture...I once made a pretty cool channeled Model A (sort of) with a V8 out of several Technic sets.

  7. I have a 10-year-old son that is ate up with building things out of Legos right now. His latest kick is building RV's, but I think he could easily be persuaded to build some cool hot rods. I will have to show him these examples.

  10. I thought this LEGO interpretation of the "American Graffiti Coupe" was pretty well done:

  13. It does look more like a Model A Coupe (with a Model T grille shell) ... That's why I called it an "interpretation" of Milner's Deuce Coupe.

No ... It's not a LEGO kit (from the fine folks in Billund, Denmark) ... It's actually the work of Calin Bors (aka "Tiler").

It looks like a A boner, but your are correct, it's a deuce.

I would really like one of those kits!

I've found a number of packaged Lego early car and truck kits that came close to looking good as sold...I think some of these were connected with Indiana Jones and desert explorer kinds of themes. I found that all of there early type cars had the same visual problem and that it was easily corrected...move the front axle forard a couple pegs and you have decent hotrods. Nothing looks worse than an early vehicle whose axle is behind the radiator centerline...ones like this, and some of the big antique trucks, are ready for rearrangement into hotrods without need for vast Lego parts stocks.

Found a few my son made a long time ago. The Pickups were his renditions of a 37 Chevy Kingkcab truck conversion I was building when he was young.
He is 38 now, and Engineer for GM and still likes building Legos and has his young Nephews hooked.
Great creative toy for all ages.

The Ratfinks are astoundingly good...they have a little extra edge, like Ratfink's psychotic evil twin!

My 11 year old built this front engine digger. Complete with functioning crank and Pistons. Also a posi reared. When he pushed it across the table the motor actually turns over. Sorry to bump this thread up but I saw it when I was out of town and couldn't reply.

If you have small kids Lego Technic is the cleanest way to teach them about mechanical concepts and building with what you have in front of you. And you get to play with them too!

Here's a lego version of Ivo's twin Buick (ignore the giant front wheels, orange body and Mercedes star - its what I had in front of me.):

    You can also build bikes..

Coming soon, a Lego version of Steve McQueen's Baja Boot...

And now back to your regularly scheduled hot rod and custom blog!
