I am very happy that the car found its way back home. Love to see history being saved in this old race cars and old hotrods. At the time I could not do much research on the car. Everything happens for reason. Peace.
First he is a dead serious modified racer, then he moves down South and wins a mess of 'Cup races as a crew chief, later he swings by The Race of Gentlemen and makes the scene and now you're telling me that Ray Evernham helped get this car with such a great history back to it's rightful owner?!?!? This Ray Evernham feller is getting cooler by the day!!
Very Sweet! It's really cool that the frame was never lengthened or otherwise mutilated. Can't wait to see the finished car.
My Dad has fond memories of seeing this car run at the 64 dragfest here in the UK. Here is a picture he took of the car at that time. Great to hear it is back with the original owner.
Great story. These short wheelbase FEDs were always cool and they still are after all these years. Very cool of Ray Evernham to get it back to its original owner.

That's really cool. Did that Drag Fest Reunion ever happen last year? I know it was scheduled for the summer and Bob Keith was supposed to be there, but I thought they hit some sort of snag. I was fortunate to talk to Ivo and Don Garlits about that first Drag Fest trip for a small piece we did in TRJ on the 50th anniversary. Some of the stories were hilarious. Apparently in England at the time when kids were learning how to drive they got a green plate with an "L" put on their car. Ivo said he got a couple of them and stuck them on the Swamp Rat. I guess they blew off when Big Daddy turned top speed/low ET of the whole event at 197/8.12 (though Ivo won the last race). Those guys all must have had a ball over there. Cool that the car's back in the states.
I saw the rail on Ray's TV show last night. The rails looks amazing. Always great to see history saved.
