i went to look at a 48 chevy flleetline areosedan the other day. im thinking of grabbing it up. but it had six lug wheels...did they come like that? the owner doesnt claim to have alot of history on it and says he does not know. i wonder if its sitting on a truck frame? no other clues lead me to believe that other than six lug wheels. it has the correct driveline and the master cylinder is in the right spot, frame looks right, etc....so any thoughts?
I have owned several 46 47 48 Chevys mostly Aerosedans (they keep following me home). Yes the pre 49's came with 6 lug wheels.
Nice body lines, and great looking car! Go for it man. if the $$$ work for you. And hey, we need pictures!! Cheers........
All the pre 49 Fleetlines had 6 lug wheels. I've had my 48 Aero for a few months now great looking lines that screams 40's art deco styling. Go for it if the price is right. Parts are not an issue either with vendors like Chevs of the 40's etc.
6 lug but it's easy to change that out with 49-54 hubs up front and swap the rearend out back either again to a 49-54, or to an open drive setup.
Yep, 6 lugs is correct. I had a 47 Fleetline back in about 1960. 16" rims were original, as I recall. The trick back then was to try and find 15" implement wheels, which had 6 holes, to replace those 16s. Anyone else remember that deal? 206tee----super looking Fleetline you got there.
