I like this, you can easily tell that Dennis is the real Gearhead in the group. He doesn't even care about the camera man. Any info on this picture?

 

Another site stated that this was "Jungles" car?

No more info. Looks like a publicity shot in the U.K. I found another one.

 

There is a picture of this car earlier in the thread, of the U.S. drag racing team visiting England...I think this car had a British 4-banger with a blower, was the only British car in the photo...so maybe this was a publicity shot when the Beach Boys visited Britain??

 

Damn, I don't remember whose car this is...thought it was Tommy Larkin but I think his car sat higher...anyone??


Magic-car by Fuller...is this the Northwind that Ace McCulloch drove?


I think this is the Beaver Brothers, thought originally it was Zane Shubert, but Zane, with Herbert Cams sponsorship, certainly wouldn't run an Engle cam!


Don Waite at San Gabriel...injected Desoto...Dean Lowe commented on this car earlier, the SCTA disallowed it as a roadster because of the streamlined faring that don added on the hood side panels...so Don decided to drag race it...it was so well engineered that it got the entire car section of HRM devoted to it....


A couple of gas coupes going at it, given the crowd, I'm guessing that this is the NHRA Nationals, sometime in the really early '60s...

 

From the Dave McClellan collection...One of the many versions of Raymond Godwin's Tennessee Boll Weevil...Raymond served in the Korean war, shot in the back by a sniper, never slowed him from building a lot of first-rate drag racing cars...modified roadsters, dragsters, etc...


I think this might be Jay Cheatham's Olds-powered gas burner....not sure, anyone else?


Another from the McClellan collection, two B/C racing...they used to be called "modified roadsters" but NHRA lumped competition coupes in with modified roadsters...

Maybe Keeter & Stewart? Photo is probably around'63, before face masks with breathers, 3-point roll cage, and zoomie headers....

Early Jungle?

 

Not Ed Taylor's roadster. Ed ran the blown Olds from his Austin fuel altered in his comp roadster. Ed's driver, Merek Chertkow, is a HAMB member. Merek could tell us some stories about that ride.
