  14. Heck no man.
    I loved this shot.

I have flyrods, a bike and dreams of Bandiliere speedway just waiting for the winter chill to abate.

I don't remember it with a cammer, but I remember there was considerable head scratching in the local community as to how there were able to stuff a 427 in it without altering the firewall which, as memory serves me, was a nono to be legal in modified production.

Ray DeNoble in Lou Smith's Probe, looks like Detroit Dragway around '64. Can't tell who is in the other lane but it's a Logghe chassis (with a blown non-hemi???).

Pomona, March '57...these guys were the hottest SoCal fuelers at the time...Cook & Bedwell running the Scotty Fenn chassis...Cook would later run 166 at Lion's, ushering in the fuel ban that lasted for years.

Santa Ana, this is what a gasser looked like in the mid to late '50s

    f6939c799911e55f9e6aff8dd4feb24e.jpg
Another shot of Dusty Rhodes Fuller-chassised fueler...this thing was first-class in a lot of ways

    greth.jpg

Fisher & Greth at Pomona...this is pre-slipper clutches, so this run shows driver talent in letting the clutch out just enough to haze the tires...notice the old orange storage shed in the background, long since gone...

    kalitta.jpg
Kalitta at the NHRA Nationals, overhead cam Ford

    rodp_0911_08+drag_racing_origins+slingshot_rail.jpg
GMC powered dragster at Santa Ana...pretty minimal but at least it had Halibrand mag wheels

pomona.jpg More Pomona, fuel modified roadster...is this Ed Taylor's car?

    sanford7.jpg
street roadster, Sanford, Maine, '50s...these guys had a short racing season, but the track drew cars from all over New England...

    sanford16.jpg
More Sanford ME...no ID on dragster...kind of cool to have the trophies right by the starting line

    sanford22.jpg
Chassis Research TE-440 -- late '50s...and the classic Speed Sport injector scoop -- no tire smoke, either it bogged or the driver is really foot-slipping the clutch...

    sanford34.jpg
More Sanford...back in the days when you drove your car, raced it, and drove back home...late '50s
