  7. Raleigh RM5 Supermatic Moped - well it was the North of England in the early 1970's. Pretty much just one step up from East Germany..... Still it meant I was almost one of the cool kids (the really cool kids had an Yamaha FS1E).

  10. Forgot to mention... First day of senior year I pulled into the lot, slipped the clutch a bit to much and layed way to much throttle on. Spun around, bounced the curb and ended up sitting backwards on the sidewalk next to the vice principal. Oops

  11. Graduated 1964- Pretty sure it was a 1953 2 door- dead stock- had some overlap though- could have been a 1963 Falcon Futura- also had a 1959 Simca in there as well- my dad enjoyed buying, fixing and selling- 1953 needed a motor- Falcon a trans- Simca motor- Bought a 1959 Vette just after and drove that during college years-

Last day of school with my little brother. More-door with a built 327. Nobody else had anything close in the parking lot... even though the year was not too long ago. ('99)

66 chevy C-10, 283(was supposed to be a 327, got ripped off by a "friend") crower cam, gear drive, 350 smogger heads with a powerglide. looked good, made a hell of a racket, couldn't get out of its own way. Good thing. By the end of summer after I graduated, I had a 70 Camaro 350 in it, just enough cam to have fun, and a th350 trans. Probably would be dead if I had that combo any earlier. I finally built that 327 I dreamed of in 1990, about 3 months ago. Can't wait to put it into my 59 ElCamino.

  19. Might be a good idea not to get too carried away posting off topic cars as it could get this pretty cool thread closed.:)

The year was 1959 and I drove a custom 1953 Chevrolet with a Corvette 283 and 4-speed. I kept it all through college and then sold it. I could never find it again. Decatur, IL — Lakeview High School.

I didn't really have a "cool" car my senior year(1970-Farmington, Mo.). I did have a black 64' chev. belair 4dr. with red interior and chrome wheels. It wasn't really cool, but if you saw it in town on Friday or Saturday night it was usually filled with either the cheerleaders or the girls volleyball team. Every class reunion, someone brings that old chevy up. Sam

  23. A lot of our instructors had neat cars too.
Mr. Aversa , the head of industrial arts department, had an immaculate white and tan tu tone '55 Bel Air hard top, somewhat warmed over. He rebuilt it from a heavy rear-end collision, total loss, with students help. Looked perfect when completed.
Mrs. Hatchell, my art teacher owned a charcoal with a black removable top '57 Thunderbird.
My freshman homeroom teacher had a '47 Ford convertible with a hot little flathead.
The girl's phys. ed. head of department drove beautiful '62 Galaxie 500 XL 4 speed convertible, black, red buckets and most always with the top down.
A couple of instructress rode BSA's and Indians. Those guys had it goin' on.

A 1961 Impala convertible - red, 283 4-barrel. It had a Turboglide when I bought it, but as you might imagine, that didn't last long. Replaced it with a rebuilt Powerglide. This was in 1967. I had to sell it two years later when I got married. Ended up driving my now-ex wife's Renault Dauphine for a couple of years. Wish I had that to do over again....

Class of '70, drove a 65 Fairlane 2 dr hardtop, jacked up in the back, "10 spoke" mags, shit-rigged dual exhaust that ended under the back floor. When it was raining and I had people in the back seat with wet shoes, steam boiled up from the floors. I didn't give a shit, I didn't ride in the back seat. Always thought the smell of mildewed, burning carpet would mask the other organic smell coming from that car.

  30. My senior year was 1982. I owned a pretty radical '68 Camaro (355ci., 12.5 to 1 compression, pretty stout crane hydraulic cams, don't remember the heads anymore, 750 Holley on a Street Dominator intake, 4 speed, 12 bolt posi with 4:11 gears and I drove it pretty much daily. I also had just inherited a 1964 El Camino that had a 283, powerglide in it (my Dad gave it to me because he gave my 1974 Pontiac Grand Am (think Mickey Thompson's funny car if you've never seen one) to my aunt because she had wiped her car out in a ditch. And before the year was out, I bought my 1930 Model A coupe, with a Corvette 283 w/ dual WCFB carbs, cast iron powerglide, and '57 Chevy rearend under it. It was last registered as a modified car in 1962! The only one of those cars I still have is the Model A, but it sat for 25 years while I was away in the Navy, and somewhere right in the middle of it they decided to put it out on my aunt and uncles ranch (Yes, the same aunt!), and time hasn't been good to it. A couple of years ago my Mom sent me pics of it and it looked just like it did when I left, but last Thanksgiving she sent new pics and it looked bad! Gotta go get it this summer and get it out of the weather....:-(.
