Hi Merritt, my engine in my 64 Comet is almost the same as yours, the only differences are my cam is a bit smaller only 0.600 lift, 13:1 & AFR heads, yours made good power, I haven`t had mine dynoed, but has run 10.77 on pump gas with open headers & 10.83 with full exhaust. John

Pic from a '65 British drag racing zine. No teardrop hood on the Comet yet here.

Myron;GREAT picture!!The S&M Comet has the new one piece front fenders and twin scooped hood in that picture.Ken Godsey went with a Teardrop for more carb clearance on his tribute Comet!Quite a collection of cars in that photo, was this the American Team in England? ROY.

Thanks Myron, No the stars didn't line up, no power yet and just to much to cram into the next few weeks. I do hope to make it early on Sat, like when the doors open will hunt you down!.........Al

Roy, Yeah I was searching for pics of the white Tony Nancy "wedge" dragster. One of the coolest looking bodied rails ever IMO.
And saw this pic on a UK drag racing forum...loaded with some great vintage pics.

Hi John, Nice Comet, running well. My old motor was a 347, little over 10:1, with AFR 185 heads. The cam was a comp cams "street roller", they have three cams in this series I used the biggest of the three, it was .621/.628 with solid rollers, 750 holley (went 125 mph), (1050 Dominator for the 127 mph), 1-3/4 headers. That is one went a best of 10.46 - 127 in great fall air, never went over 7,100 rpm. This one wasn't on a dyno, somewhere between 480 and 500 HP. Broke that motor, my fault not machine shop. These small block Fords with good heads perform very well without high RPMs. Can't wait to hit the track. Merritt

I have not been here for quite some time either. I still don't care for the way the format of the site changed. I know. Get over it. I am currently building my first new engine in a very long time. It is another 351C with an Eagle 3.750 crank and Eagle 6.125 rods. Custom Wiseco pistons .020 over and13:1 CR. Ends up 380 CI. Also my first roller cam engine. Comp .692 lift on both with 273 and 283 duration at .050. Still using iron 4V closed chamber heads. Should get me in the 10's? This is my last Cleveland and the future is going to be a small block I will be getting in the near future. Brian

Not positive about that location....I'm thinking possibly Ford test track in Dearborn. They did a lot of photography there back when they were involved more with racing...... Thunderbolt in background.
