I've always wanted one back when they first came out. My dad bought the "other" one, 1957 Ford Ranch Wagon. It was black with a T-bird motor. I liked it but it did not have the lines or the hardtop doors that the Nomad had.
I would trade straight across today, my 40 chopped coupe for a 1957 Nomad with an updated drive train, nice interior, & AC. Anyone want a cool Chevy Coupe?

Bought our first Nomad yesterday, Sold our little Chevy II for the funds to purchase, It all went down this week without intentions. But man what a week it has been. the wagon had been restored back in late 80's and still in great shape. We wont have to do much but address the missing accessories on the motor and she will be back on the road.

  3. Way to go, looks like a great driver. Do you like rallye wheels? Great wheel for Chevys!

ChevyII. Something about the '56 taillights with the tailgate strips ''works''.
It's the reason the Nomad is my favorite of all the '56 models, trumping even a ragtop.

Nice score Bill. All it needs is a set of Cragars and drop the frt end a couple inches. Love the 56 Nomad side trim/paint divider. Very nice.

Up on jack stands doing the dropped spindles and coils for the front. and 2" blocks for rear.I rolled the front tire in place and now i'm second guessing the dropped look i'm going for??? Got the motor done and running too.

Sorry, not understanding what you mean. You are lowering the car 2 inches from stock?

Bolt the wheels on and get it on the ground off the jack stands.

They look good either way. Like the Chevy II, you almost need two...one low and one high.
Looks like a real nice, clean Nomad.

My first Nomad was a '57 bought back in '79. Sold it two weeks later to buy a '58 Vette. Friend I sold it to had painted it red and headed to Hot August Nights where Hot Rod Magazine liked it enough to put it on the cover with a 55 and 56 Nomad. I knew that was my old car because the drivers side rear curved window had a vertical crack in it and you can see it on the January 1980 Hot Rod Magazine cover. Had a number of projects of the years and then decided I wanted another Nomad so in late '04 bought this '56 Nomad nearby in Santa Rosa California.

SmokinBill: good look. What did you put in the center of the rear wheel?

I like the GM flags and the center caps for a '78 corvette fit inside diameter of the steel wheel. The '69 Camaro/Corvette LT-1 valve covers make a perfect match combo.
