I thought I would start this thread to document the build on my '33 Coupe. A little history... This car was bought by my grandfather from the original owner in Essex, MO in 1956 for $18 and some change. In 1961, my grandfather had my dad drive the car out to their barn and park it. It sat there until 1979 when my grandfather brought it to the shop he had built behind his house. He began the process of restoring the car and most of his work went into gathering the parts needed for the restoration. This was obviously back before the internet and all he had was a telephone and Hemmings motor news. Over the years he was able to gather almost everything he needed to put the car back together, but he came down with lung cancer and passed away in 2004. In March of 2012 I was able to take possession of the car. I brought it down to Louisiana and began the process of getting it back on the road. The main issue holding me back was some metal work that needed to be done. I am new to this and have not developed the skills necessary to do the work myself. It took a couple of years, but I finally found a good shop to do the work and they have the car right now. My plan is to use what I have to get the car back on the road. That means I will be going mostly stock at first and then over the coming years as money and time allows, update the drivetrain, brakes and give it a better stance to make it a more drivable car. Here are a few pictures of the progress:
Looking forward to the updates......I love 33 5 window coupes, they have the edge over the 34's for me..bit like 39 deluxes are nicer than the 40 coupes.....your plan of action sounds good..build a nice stocker and modify it to your taste...
So cool, with the history of this car, it will become a family heirloom, get it on the road, enjoy it and pass it alongfor future generations to care for and enjoy.
That is the plan. My dad is really anxious to see it on the road. I hope to get it going while he can still enjoy it some too.
