What's the coolest thing you found in an old car?

BTTT for more - I can't get enough of the weirdness.

 

Trunk of my brother's 69 Firebird was a ton of porn tapes - neighbor came by and swooped them up before we could even ask if he wanted them!

My Dodge had two books o raffle tickets to win a brand new 1957 Buick Roadmaster. I would love to see if I won, but the gas station that was holding the raffle is no longer around.

 

1.) A set of three pink plastic monkeys.
2.) A brochure from a graveyard, marked 1961
3.) One single cigarette butt with a book of matches, marked 1958
4.) A hotel brand bar of soap from 1958.

 

Not super cool but when I bought the shell of my '29 Sedan I turned it upside down to clean it out and 2 pennies fell out one a 1917 and the other a 1929.

In the '51 Hudson there was a letter dated July '58 from a lawyer of a lawsuit for the balance of $10,000 in medical bills. I'm kind of guessing that's why it still had '58 license plates on it when I bought it.

 

found a full set of n.o.s 37-48 ford logo flat head valves and springs , 2 sets of pistons , one new , and a 36 ford coupe spare tire carrier in the trunk of a 38 cad sedan

 

when i bought my 64 galaxie it was missing the trunk lock and bezel. i called john from big m and he brought one to the turlock swap meet for me and gave me a good deal on it. then 80 bucks to have a key made for it. so the next day i am on the phone talking to a buddy and sit in the passenger seat and look at the floor.yea two more complete trunk locks sitting on the floor. all i could do was laugh..

During the restoration of a 1953 jeep which had belonged to my client's grandfather, I found a 1927 Walking Liberty half dollar wedged under the gas tank. When I informed the owner, he told me that he remembered when he was a kid, his grandfather being pretty upset about losing his good luck charm - a silver half dollar! We ended up mounting it on the dash...

 

coolest thing I found in a 50 Chevy was....the title to it in the glove box that wouldn't open.

 

So my neighbor always had a dream to own a 64 Ford, he wanted a hardtop, but i heard a rumor about a rag top. We drove out to see it in the next town and sure enough, it was a solid piece. the interior was all in the trunk. The guy who had it had lost his storage spot and had to sell it. So $400 later it was on a rollback and headed to my house. When we started to check what we got, we emptied the trunk, under all the interior parts were 2 ET wheels, 15 x7 and a factory 2 x 4 manifold with the carbs still on it. We had a shop in town that builds Cobra reproductions, took the manifold to them and walked away with a grand.........................made the convertible a freebie with change to spare. Sad ending to the story, the neighbor had to get divorced and the car went down the road, along with the house and everything else...............

 

Now thats a cool story.

 

53 pair of panties stuffed in both corners of my Chevy pickup. My wife laughed as we put them in a bag and returned them to the previous owner.

Back in 1961 I owned a 1954 Monarch in small town Northern British Columbia, sold it in 1963 and left town. In 1990 I'm taking a Sunday morning walk around the block of my mothers house, in small town British Columbia. I see an old Merc sitting in a guys back yard, painted light green with a brush. The car I owned was a coppery brown color. I get sniffing around the trunk and reach down in the right hand wheel well hole by the fender. I bring up a fishing hook, float and some line. It was one of my old fishing setups I used to catch Dolly Vardin in the mountain when I was a kid. Bought the car from the old guy that owned the property, hauled it 400 miles to where I now live. It's in the garage, resting over the winter, restored.

 

About 15 years ago I purchased a '71 Chevelle SS big block from a storage locker auction. Never got a legitimate bill of sale for it, only promises that it would be mailed to me.
The car had an excellent body, missing some window glass and no interior and vice grips for a steering wheel.
The 396" (402") was locked up but it did have a 4 speed.
Car only cost me $550. A BARGAIN even back then.
After working on it for several months I happened to open the glove box door and fished around.
Initially - Nothing there.
Then while feeling around in the thin slot over the compartment where the warranty book would be stored I pulled our a very dusty and folded up piece of paper.
Voila! A legitimate signed and open title from the last registered owner.

Sold it for $2,300 bucks. Thought I scored.
I know, shoulda hung on to it for a few more years.

 

Bought an ugly 78 monte carlo to get some vette rallys & flip it for some project dough, in the trunk was a new pete jackson sbc 327c gear drive .... the noisy one.

 

a couple buffalo nickels, some hair pins behind the dash and a 1979 longs drug coupon catalog. I'm very particular about putting anything I find back under the carpet. in the 51 there were a few vintage A&W bottlecaps and a matchbook cover from the 60's... all still under the seat.

 

I found the Alemite Oil Change Reminder stuck up under the headliner of my 1935 Olds, it must have been from the first oil change it said it was changed at 3000mi, was dated 4/35 and said the owners name was Helen Smith.

About 30 something years ago, I bought a 68 Camaro parts car from a guy. Was popping out the back seat one Saturday morning at the shop I shared with a couple of other guys and found an envelope under the seat. It was full of polaroids of a gal about 9 1/2 months pregnant and naked as the day she was born. Left nothing to the imagination. The last photo was of the guy I assume who got her pregnant--with a big grin on his face and showing off what got her that way at full staff. We all laughed our asses off. I swear I had seen the girl before, but never could put a name with the rest of her. One of my buddies wanted to put them up on the local bulletin board at the grocery store across the street from the shop. Decided that was not a good idea.

 

I got the crap scared out of me at 15 I was going to take my moms 51 Mercury to a girl friends house and when I started up the car I found a bum (today "homeless person") sleeping on our back seat who sat up and started to beg for me not to call the police or shoot him I weighted about 145# and 5'11" tall he was at least 250-275# and well over 6'. turned out he used any car that he could find that wasn't locked for his bed, his fear was that in Atlanta in those days they hung guys for less that than, need less to say we locked or car from then on..........

 

about the best i ever did was under the back seat of my first shoebox was a blue-dot lens a bunch of p-o'd mud daubers and a set of keys for a "42 desota."

 

I found the original bill of sale and owners manual for my '59 apache in the glovebox

 

This came with my '62 Newport when I bought it.... stripped her down and grinded her valves!

When I was high school back in the late 60's I found a naked cheerleader in the back seat of my 51 Packard !!!!!!!!!!

 

in the glove box of my 51 Ford Woodie, That was parked around 1972. Bufferin aspirin dated 1967 (half full) Visor calendar Glenn's Douglas Service August 1970, US Forest Service $7.00 Golden Eagle Permit, A & W receipt for a $1.88 (1) cheeseburger, coffee (black), four roads maps ( Chevron, Flying A, Oregon outdoor guide, Washington state highways) Ward's Motor Record Book. and cigarette lighter 6v mini trouble light(works) ... not cool or amazing... but just neat stuff that was in the car , The family used ( avid campers and fishing)
