Just as the topic states. What rear end fits?

I'm sure there is a thread that already has this information but I didn't see it. I know how some guys get butt hurt & have to tell you about a thread but don't actual help.

I just need help. Please & Thank You!

  2. I think that's an enclosed (Torque tube type rear end). did you want to convert it to open drive shaft?

Yes. Swapping out entire drive train.

  4. first consider it would be nice to have the same bolt pattern as the original. second measure present rear end center to center width of tires this this is tread width. the new rear end should be close to the same. then if you want disc brakes. spring or suspension type is also important. I am not aware of a direct bolt in rear end. some fabwork will be necessary.

I used an 89 Caprice in my 49 sedanette. Same bolt pattern and width.

Perhaps you have already decided what sort of rear axle mounting/control system you want to use, but a couple of the more common are; the '60 to '72 GM pickup 'truck arm' style (aka NASCAR arms).....another is 4 bar style.

There is extensive coverage of these methods on a couple of threads here on the HAMB.
