Probably not helpful; but the only place I've seen pumps like that was on big trucks. Not to say it won't fit a 235 since they did use them in trucks; but power steering was not that common back then.
I have some old Chevy truck parts books and Chevy doesn't admit to having power steering on trucks before 1955. And the steering pump for cars from that era looks like this
There was a power steering on 235 powered cars, Starting in 53 (I think) from Chevrolet. Very rare! I saw a car in a junkyard with the bottom pulley pump long gone. Somewhere I have a book on 49-54 Chevrolets I will get you some more info when I find it.
that exploded diagram I posted above is 53-54 chevy car power steering pump. Check this out.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/121546037145
squirrel , thanks for the info . i was told vickers made pumps for all makes but the brackets are different from the pump on ebay but the pump is the same .
One clue about the make and age of the pump brackets is that there is a square hole in the bracket for setting the belt tension. From what I've seen, you won't find that on old Chevy steering pump brackets, but you would on Fords, as shown on that Mustang bracket on ebay. And Chevy started using a generator mounted Saginaw pump in 1955. If you want to use the pump you have on a 235, you'll need to find a way to attach a lower pulley for it, and then you'll probably have to make/modify the bracket. It can be done, but it's not going to just bolt on. If you look at the picture I posted above, you'll see one way to make a bracket to fit a 235.
The book I have is more history than tech. I have some manuals, again I have to find them. I have too much stuff in too many places!
