I know what you mean about taking time off and regrouping your thoughts. A second deuce on your hands doesnt help matters. The first one starts to get jealous.

The hinge area can get damaged like that from the door getting blown open on a windy day with no check strap in operation, or reversing with the door open and catching the door on something, or another scenario is wrenching the door open on a body that has been sitting for years and the hinges have seized up. there may be other causes, but that damage is quite common. My sedan has hinges damaged like that. Mart.
Most guys would be feel honored to have those problems. With your talents, I am sure you will get through it.
Well I did not get a picture while I had the hinge in the vice... Hmmm So I've drawn the method I used I simply placed two blocks on one side of the hinge and a small block on the outward side of the bend and tightened No need to over bend , this is not hardened metal Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. Mort You are correct . In this case , my guess and only a guess, from the looks of the skin and the fact that the upper has no damage, is that the car drove into something . Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Before removing the hinge I made straightened the area as much as possible , with the goal to get the door edge straight. I also made a pattern of the metal to be cut out And made the cuts Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I couldn't stand it having two of them things. I'd have to build on chassis and switch bodies back and forth. Remember the '32 chevy roadster/'67 camaro that R&C did an interchanging body on?

Rushed the panel install, pushed the bottom of the door up to much when installing the outer panel and the bottom is a bit short Cut a seam in the door patch and welded it to the correct length Last picture shows the finished product on the car Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
