It's got the look. I like the chop, I'm gonna figure out how to chop it more in the rear, keep the rear quarter windows and still be a foldable top. I have my work cut out for me.

I have had this one for awhile, just haven't found the time to work on it much. I've been back and forth about letting it go and focus on the 33 tudor.

I think the '47-8 Business Coupe like the one above (post #210) is the best looking of all the '41-48 Ford body styles. They've always seemed relatively scarce compared with Tudors and Club Coupes, though.

That one would benefit from a set of period-correct beauty rings.

  4. Hey, Tim, check out posts 1, 2 and 12 in this thread. Looks like those cars have chopped tops with the quarter windows. Of course I have no idea if they still work...

  5. Never really been a fan of the late 40's fat fendered cars, but darn is they ain't starting to grow on me.

I belong to the Early Ford V8 Club of America and a fellow member has a sweet 46 sedan for sale, this thread has me thinking. HRP

This is a good plan. Perfect profile. Slight additional A pillar lean back increase.

  7. According to this resource-to put your comment into context-there were approx twice as many convertibles built as Business (short door)coupes in '46-' 48 model year production.......yes they are scarce.

I just picked up this 46 about a week ago. Interior was done at some point and is still in incredible shape sans headliner.
Floors will need some attention but overall pretty solid car.
I've got a MINT set of 15" steelies sitting in boxes on my storage shelf and a rough set of 16"'ers that need some love, not sure which way to go there?
Plan is to get her running well, she does run, and drive & enjoy while I address everything.
Just looking for a fun family cruiser that I can fit everyone in as an aside to my Model A coupe which is less family friendly.

No denying those fat fendered sedans are the tits, that's for sure.
Love my coupe but there's just something so cool about those sedans!

Great thread. Love the 46-48 coupes. Just picked up this project. It must be real rare with the rear engine option and all. Ha Ha! Not sure what I want to do with it yet but I do like the look of this chopped top one! Glad to see this thread back on topic after the whole "Pulp Fiction" thing. Could have at least been a HAMB friendly picture like from America Grafitti!

Yep, that's a 4.5" dropped axle from Sids waiting there for her. It's a bit of a catch all for parts I am accumulating for it.
I need some door garnish moldings if you have any !

It is just a Sid's dropped axle w/ reveresed eye springs front and rear w/ longer shackles in the rear.

^^ Wow -- TWO 1946 business coupes, both very nicely done in very similar style. Rare and cool, IMO.

Just bought MINE last Saturday. Tons of lots of work. Absolutely getting to build a dream car of mine.
Ever since Fat Jack's I have wanted one. Years later Pat Barnhart's confirmed my want for a 46-48 Ford Coupe. All the front Sheet metal and extra fenders are in bed of my truck, Front grill and bumpers inside car. Again Tons of Lots of work to be done. Fremont.003.jpg Patscar_0001-vi.jpg
