last time I got hold of a McMaster-Carr catalog I priced out a complete set of cogs and chains to build a GN style transmission, think it was going to be well over a grand.

by the way, thread looks great Bob!!!! keep up the good work.

You picked the most expensive source to buy from. They are great because it's easy and they have everything you want but you pay for that.

The past week or so I've been trying to figure out how to make the dog clutches narrower, so as to fit more chains. I think the famous shift quality derives from everything being a decent size and not crowded together, though.

part of the speed in shifting might be less stuff too.

    Dawie

Dawie--Working out from the center make the set of two dogs on the first sprocket, male dogs, engaging slots through the second sprocket-that sprocket has male dogs on the outboard side, at 90* to the through slots to engage third sprocket slots (if there is a third) and so on-- You will save about 5/8" on each engaging pair, compared to the FN arrangement.

    Hello BP,
Why not: cyclecars are automobiles (or tried to be) with motrocycle's components (engine, wheels, transmission...) and this trike is motrocycle with automobile's components (engine - wonderful sound, transmission and rear wheels...) - closed circle!
    Ciao,

Here's a prototype cycle car for you. Custom frame work. 1989 CBR 600 F1 motor geared down 20% through a jackshaft to a LSD Independent Rear Suspension.

I'd have lost the cage and run tall Rudge-style wires and a pair of HS2s. I'd have kept the Tool soundtrack, though!

OK, what is the rope thing attached to the rods on the left rear wheel? Maybe a brake for the Bentley driver?
