thanks guys, just sorting thru the boxes of parts to get all the dash trim together, dyed the dash pads and polishing all the chrome and stainless. started with 2 complete cars so we got boxes of shit all over the place for this car, but we're still moving forward!

Is the blue on the bottom of the car basecoat alone, or basecoat with a flattened clear?

it's just the basecoat for the candy. i like to put color on everything after i seal it so after its all assembled for final paint , just scuff it w/500 grit, couple more coats of color, then candy and clear. thanks.

What is the rear suspension on that car? Many years ago one of my friends had a Rambler wagon with trailing arms and coil springs. He dumped it when one of the arms broke and the only thing holding it together (if I remember correctly) was the emergency brake cable. Seems to me the arm looked like quite thin metal but if it was a closed driveline (another thing I can't remember) it probably didn't take a lot of load anyway.

The 67 Rambler Rebel would have had trailing arms (four link) and coil springs. Later AMCs (the Rambler name was dropped from the big cars starting in 68 -- the Rambler Rebel became the AMC Rebel). 63-66 big cars had a torque tube (enclosed driveshaft) drive. The tube was the main locating arm, and was attached to the transmission. I can't see any way of breaking that tube! So your friend had to have had the 67 Rebel.

I long for "the old days" when you could push one button and whip thru the whole thread, without playing the number (s) game,, what happen to that feature?

That is NICE!! Such a cool hardtop with an unusual V-8. I would walk past most cars at a car show to check that one out.

I think the wheels on it are called Astro's. Those are also very unusual and very cool. Decades ago I had a set on a SS396 and I loved them.

  16. Somehow I missed this thread until now. What a great and unusual build. However, when I first clicked on it, I was really expecting to see an "El Camino" style build from a Rambler wagon.

The body blue is stunning as it sits. It looks like it's glowing! I'm sure it will look good glossy, too.

Pictures don't do this color justice at all, my dad (autobodyed) did an amazing job with this paint job.
