The Packard stops you in your tracks...for all the wrong reasons. We would still be beating the bushes and going on wild goose chases looking for old Expediers if GMC had made those.
One of the most recent of the Joe Bortz finds and restoration projects...........Many design elements adopted (except the Triumph Sprite bug-eye headlights).........The mid-fifties was a design hayday/boomtime in US auto industry...........This period (IMHO) will be our nest "classic car" period............We might as well include the custom car/hot rod group too and may were outstanding
The Biscayne is interesting, the Expedier is awesome, and the rest look like unfinished projects that got scrapped for all the right reasons.
Retro-future....future cars as imagined back around 1955. Anybody remember these trading cards and/or model cars?
Agree. It looks like GM was copying from the kustom playbook on that one.. The Wildcat ain't bad, either.
My favorite is the Olds Delta 88 drawing. Anybody else note the similarity of the wheelcovers in the Cad-Lasalle pic to the Barris Grecian's wheelcovers? Looks like Barris was sampling some hubcap ideas, as well as some of the other unsuccessful tricks for use on this car. (pic stolen from Rikster's site)
That Packard still exists; I saw an article detailing it's restoration some years ago. The black-and-white photo doesn't do the car justice, it's actually stunning in color....
