  3. Where'd you get the Winfield - t0 - Stromberg adapter?

    @gwhite
It is a "Cyclone" adapter and came with the group that included the Ray Day head and Winfield Manifold. The stromberg attached to it is the same one that was mounted to it in 1956.

Just gotta finish the linkage and plumb fuel lines and then the manifold can come off a final time before getting sealed up and mounted for good. After that, we are a quick timing-verification, and wiring hook-up, away from firing this thing!

Oh, and I have to re-tap the spark plug threads and get a new head gasket for the Ray Day head before it goes on, although I may keep the Police head on for a while for break-in and shake-down purposes...

  7. That's bitchin'. Would like to find one just in case the Winfield carb every gives up the ghost.

  9. Very nice! Might want to get some measurements of that linkage from you!

  10. Good luck! I've been looking hard. I wanted to buy Evans speed parts package just for that piece. Kinda thinking it may be time to reproduce them...

Just caught up on this thread. Nice work!

  12. Might see if @Cyclone Kevin has a master he can use as a pattern to make a small run. Or perhaps @moose or @BCCHOPIT can fab a couple up for us...

So you may have gathered from my last post, but the phaeton is getting a new dash. Here's the new jewelry...

They will be going into a '32 roadster dash once I figure out some fitting and clearance issues.

Let's see if I can pull this off and keep the cowl tank...

Those are really cool. If you don't mind my asking, what did they off of?

So I spent the first morning of the New Year in the cold, cold garage with the determination that I would get the motor fired. After some trepidation, adjustments, and a amount of time waiting for the 6v battery to charge, the engine finally sprung to life, if only briefly...

...now I just have to put the radiator and other parts back on before a proper break-in.

I'm not entirely sure what the original intent of these gauges was, but they are both 5" Stewart Warner curved-glass type. The Speedometer was NOS, in just a plain cardboard box, wrapped in paper and desiccant. The Tach/Vacuum Gauge is really nice used. Based on the low-revs and low top speed, I'd assume that they were intended for Big-Truck applications, but fit perfectly into the needs of a banger-powered rod that will never see more than 4000 RPM or 80 MPH, downhill, with a tailwind.

Thanks for responding. They're great looking. I agree with you about the truck application, it's similar to a
tractor tach. By the way, you have a great looking car. I've enjoyed the thread.
    Best,

    Getting closer...

...pluming will resume as soon as I get some more 1/4" fuel line, it's on order.

Started on the new dash after work today.

Getting the Brookville '32 dash to fit, with only a little cutting, and a few 'percussion adjustments':

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1420249832.373494.jpg

Made some locating pins out of a couple of framing nails to mark where to put the hole for the fuel gauge hole:

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1420249922.259490.jpg

And finally, after getting the center-point of that hole plotted, I got the rest of the layout, laid out:

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1420250012.017948.jpg

It'll be tight, but I think I should have enough clearance for the speedo and tach cables without modifying the fuel tank at all. I hope...

Very interested to see how this dash works out, I'd like to try and talk my Dad into doing the same to his Coupe if all goes well.
