Thought all of you '40 Ford guys would appreciate this new cluster from Classic Instruments. I'm sure it's not cheap, but I would love to have one.
Well it looks like good oil pressure , water temp and almost a full tank of gas comes with the cluster ! Looks like the charging system is ok too.
That is pretty rich for sure. At that price you would have thought you could have had the color markings on the Volt screen too. Am I being to picky? I do prefer that look over a lot of the aftermarket replacement cluster designs I have seen to date. Oh well, maybe when the "Boat" comes in.
For comparison, a decent working cluster that is original is about $500. A restored cluster using decals instead of paint (how long will that last?) is $600. Having an original restored using paint rather than decals is about $1,100. This is a cool looking cluster though. I like it better than the white background on some of the new designed replacement clusters.
Gotcha on that first sedan HRP. I bought the rights to any/all body parts for $10.00. It's 1959 and the car is a pristine 4door as a tradein to Nielsen Chevrolet. I bought the sheetmetal rights from the FARMER that made a haysweep out of the chassis and running gear. Thought nothing of it at the time. Yikes!!! P.S. Mom made two trips with her 55 Chevy hauling fenders and doors and ..............drumroll.........the working clock. Think of that car often out there sweeping hay.
I like the look-but will stick with stock clusters restored and converted-have had many done and they aren't cheap-old clusters are $100-150 and restoration/ 12Vconversion with senders costs about $600-not cheap either. The trim around a std cluster is a little hard to find in good shape but now someone is making them-forgot who though.

I like them! Yes they are pricey but as others have said, some of the restored 12 volt conversions can come pretty close to this price. I like them enough to consider selling my brand new Stewart Warner gauge set I have ready to install in my current project. Anyone interested buying a 6 gauge SW set ? Tach and speedo are in the stock standard bezel with an engine turned panel and the other 4 are in a nice chrome under dash panel.

David, Congratulations to Classic Instruments for designing and making such a beautiful 40 Ford gauge cluster. It's great to see such craftsmanship in the USA. You guys have the right to feel a little bit proud.
Nice looking piece of equipment. Given all the behind the scene costs, probably a fair price. I just don't have a Ford that it fits at the moment, or I'd probably order one. Ray
