Originally built with a 4 speed until NHRA outlawed them. Changed to a 3 speed in 1970 and a Glide in 1971, the last year a '57 was legal to run in stock eliminator. (Thanks NHRA!) Yep that's me behind the wheel. Having more fun than ever although things seem to be happening a lot quicker in there than they did 43 years ago. My age is showing!

Not too many people get a second chance to own and drive their old drag car. Makes me smile just looking at that launch pic. Are their any pics of it coming out of storage? Maybe I missed it?

Looks as though neither you nor the car has lost a step! Great to see it back on the track.

I wouldn't call this storage but it's the first time we've seen it in 40 years (2011).

How did they keep "all white attire" clean. Gotta love all those Oldsmobiles.

That Wells Brothers Olsmobile (49 or 50?) is the coolest Hope it's restored to stock after it's racing days were over. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

I have a question for tommyd:

You post many great old photo's and I was wondering if you know the names of who owned and drove these cars?

I ask because many of the cars look similar to cars I remember.

    Thanks Jimbo

Jimbo. Some I do but a lot of these are coming off of facebook. Would be a good idea to post the names as well if I have them. 10433283_848865078499394_4205028541965376092_n.jpg

    Thanks tommyd for the reply.
Many of the shots from Cecil County remind me of many of the old drag racers I knew.

    57 Sport Sedan Jr Stocker.jpg

Or is there a thread on it's restoration? Being a 4 door hardtop, it's very cool and unique for a drag car. This has to be one of my favorite Jr. Stockers. Have you considered bringing it to The Meltdown Drags in Byron ILL? It is the weekend after The York Reunion and pre-registration is open. http://meltdowndrags.com/
It would be really cool to see a group of Jr. Stockers at Byron Dragway.

By the way, my older brother's 57 BelAir Sport Sedan is what got me interested in cars, many years ago. He drag raced it off and on for over 30 years.
