The one that probably rekindled the interest back to the cars that this forum is all about for most of us, well at least me, American Graffiti .

I agree on Thunder Road. My dad taped it and I was only allowed to watch it if my dad was there, He was afraid I would erase the tape somehow.

First car related movie I saw as a kid was The Lively Set, but the best movie in my book is American Graffiti

  16. The "Great Race", but it is probably a little too early to be considered HAMB friendly.

HAMB era ,no doubt about it, Thunder Road. The 50 sedan stole the show. The Memphis chase is the highlight of the movie. Despite the V8 sound effects in parts of the movie; the Memphis chase reveals the car had a 6 cylinder.
    Best of all timeIMHO
    Smokey and the Bandit
    Honorable mention
    Bullit
    Blues Brothers
    The French Connection
    Macon County Line
    Bonnie and Clyde
    Dillinger

Another vote for Thunder Road, ---- Smokey and the Bandit as no. 2

  19. The easy answer is American Graffiti. The more intellectual answer is Rendezvous (Hey, it's French...it has to be intellectual).

Each decade has some dandy's but here are some of my personal Favorites..........
Back to the Future / cause I missed out on the 50's and as an 80s kid it took me there
MAD MAX "Original" / Love to go back and save a ute that Crashed! Yes Blowers not switched on!
The Worlds Fastest Indian / Makes me wish I did have a Flux Capacitor , see Salt Flats in 60's
The Wraith / "you loose the race you loose your car!"
Bullitt / Who doesn't love a real Hemi Charger getting Cobbed hard!
Two Lane Blacktop / Solely for the BBC/ M22 gear whine throughout the flick & its predecessor
American Grafitti / " I ain't nobody dork" L88's are sinister when launching in 55 posts!
Real Vanishing Point / pointless but WOW , Hemi's and 440's are cool to many!
Sometimes they come back / Just for the 55
Better off Dead / honorable mention scene at stoplight
Catch me If you can "80s tv movie kid works in junk yard goes street racing & winning"
California Kid " cool 70s rod movie"
Christine /not possessed but like it still do its own bodywork. I could park closer at Wally World.
Original Gone in 60 seconds / entertaining , the remake just for some cars
    Gumball and Cannonball Movies
Cobra / It's his Real CAR! / Even though NOS doesn't work that way.
Heart like a Wheel / I love racing cars!

Eat My Dust / I will always B a Dirt Racer for life even though my local track closed.
Stroker Ace / More vintage DIRT cars!
Dr. NO / Black 57 Chev Convert n Cool era Fords when New
Rebel With out a Cause / Brillaint movie

"The Big Wheel" starring Mickey Rooney is a feast of 1940's Hop-ups, Jalopies, Midgets, and Indy Cars.
