after much consideration I have decided to go SBC in my 32 Chev coupe, no new crap like a crate motor but a 1965 327, w/ 57 power pack heads, Vette valve covers, Vertex mag, and a 3X2 intake straight from Dicks Hot Rod Place. I had built a 1970 292 six for it but it just wasn't doing it for me and I sold it.

  2. Looks like a good power plant for a hot rod,I think you will be happy with the 327. HRP

Being a "conformist" is when you do something just to fit in with the crowd...and don't do what YOU want. Heck, it'd be grudgingly okay with me if you chose to put a Ford in it...as long as it was YOUR choice and not the choice of the anti-SBC harpies here on the H.A.M.B. Personally, I can't think of a better choice for your car than the one you made.

Got my vote. Ain't a damn thing wrong with an sbc in a hotrod, 'course I grew up with sbc's so....:D
I've collected the vette attire (oil-fill intake, v/c's, cake pan air cleaner) for a future project myself, I like it.

Nope-now if you had gone with a flat head.... . That will be one great hot rod with that TRADITIONAL engine in it.

Completely my plan, with some help from my partner in crime.... The kid reads all the good monthly and bi-monthly publications cover to cover.... " dad, it'll be so cool, early 327 with a forged steel crank, 30/30 cam, and a tripower"

The manifold Dick just put together for me, a Fenton 3X2:

The Edelbrock manifold that's sitting on the engine is a C355 it only fits the 1955/56 265 heads. That one will hang on the wall....

Nothing wrong with a nostalgic looking early SBC.

Now I just need to finish the other project I have going..... My 1966 SS396 Chevelle.... The block was cast in '65, I probably could have gone with a crate motor for half the cost of building a full roller out of an original engine but it wouldn't be old iron. I need longer weekends and more money.

The 327 will be nostalgic, unlike my 396.....

Conformity is picking up a catalog and ordering a built engine and paying for it.

As cool & unusual as I think it would've been with the 6-popper in there , I think it's cool to have an old 327 in your Chevy , especially with the 3-2 setup . It will look BOSS for sure ! I can't wait to see it done .

    Now if it was a 32 FORD ... ;)

They had SBC's in Hot Rods in 1965, you're just building yours 50 later. Bob

A Chevy in a Chevy, in your garage, with your son hanging out too!
Sounds pretty good to me. The time with your son, is the most important thing of all.
Have fun, and good luck to you.
My question is.....which car, is for who

The 66 is for me, I've had it over 30 years. The 32...... Well, that's debatable

Sounds good to me. I dont see all the fuss about using sbc's. Damn 1955 was the first year so that makes them 60 years old I'de say thats vintage. I'm going to be 48 in a few days and I know I feel vintage!!!

  23. You got a Chevy and you are putting a Chevy engine in it.
That couldn't be more right, that engine belongs there.:)

  24. I think you answered your own question about being a comfomist when you said 'My 32 isn't a Ford'.

Good choice! I like period SBCs and make no apologies for it! Might not be the best choice for every situation but great choice for yours.

We're all conformists, of one color or stripe, especially here on this board.

3 pedals are better than 2.
The Airflow wheel is very cool!
