Ceasar has owned this 61 Corvette since he was 17 years old. That's him sitting behind the car smoking the cigar. Hell of a guy. Car ran mid tens back in the early seventies. Still has the same BB Chevy in it. Cam has over .700 lift, a 12 bolt Chevy rear still running the 4.88 gears. Like he said "not much of a highway cruiser". Other than having the seats re-done, the rest of the interior as well as the exterior/ paint are just as they were. Awesome. I am in the process of converting my 1972 Vette into a straight axle gasser. Already found a source for a 4-link rear conversion kit. Anyone know a source for a straight axle front kit or someone who will install a conversion?

Search for a thread called new straight axle custom built by hamber. He makes them if that doesn't work out speedway is another source for a straight axle but might not be the best for something that is going to take a lot of abuse.

Contact BCCHOPIT here on the HAMB. He recently built this one for my 57 Corvette. Super strong and a thing of beauty. Here is his site.

Baron, Thanks for the link he is the one mentioned in the thread. It also has pictures of some of his axles and they look very heavy duty.

Thanks Bob , and same to you ! After seeing your car at the Hot Rod Reunion convinced me to remove the stock front end /4 inch I-beams and put a straight axle under it. That was my original plan anyway. You showing up was just the inspiration I needed. THANKS !

Thanks for bringing this thread back on line Crazy Grandpa. I like all the builds going on now and hope they are ready for the Spring.

Because the North Jersey Outlaws wants to sponsor a solid axle corvette meet at our home 60s track at Historic Island Dragway here in North Jersey. We will pick up the $3100 for the rental of the track and full track glue. Your only cost is $100 per car and or driver.

Crazy Grandpa, I know it would be a long tow for you, but you would be the fastest of all the cars there as we are stock type street cars. How cool!!!!

Any other racers that want to participate, let me know. With enough racers, we can do this, or we will have to rent the track for just tuning our cars. Hot rod 63-67 vettes also invited. Let me know on here or by private message.

Also good news, I read yesterday on this site that Fabcraft has an all new super strong, in house, posi unit for 57/64 Olds and Pont. Jim

    Jim,

That sounds like great time, if I was back in the east coast that would be a must make race.
