Hey guys, had the Merc up for sale. Showed it to a few people and it has rekindled that fire. I ordered seat covers from Lebarron Bonney a while back and never put them in. Also ordered new carpet that was never installed. Cost me about $900. After the last looker who was not a car guy and knew absolutely nothing left, I tore out the old ratty interior and began installing the new stuff. I have to say that the covers fit really well and I couldn't be happier with how its coming along.

The questions/ opinions I need some help on are:
1 What material do you use to make new door panels and pillar covers? Where would I find it?
    2. Im going with black on the doors. Deleting the arm rests but reinstalling the trim. Would you use vinyl or some other material?

Thanks for your opinions/ help. I am not good at taking pictures but here is what the back seat looks like with the new carpet.

you should be able to buy the material from labarron by the yard. same type and color. I think it comes 56 inches wide by whatever yards you need.

Backing material for door panels etc...
You have a few options, guys use 1/8" Luan, or MDF. I prefer to use 1/8" ABS plastic sheet, costs more, but is heat formable and won't absorb moisture like Luan or MDF. You can find Luan or MDF at most hardware stores. As for ABS plastic sheet, you may have to google plastic suppliers in your area, most places will sell by the sheet.

The backing is what I needed to know. Thanks for those options and info. Any opinion on whether I should use vinyl or a cloth type material on the doors. Considering what the seats look like. Thanks guys

just my opinion here but if you plan on keeping the car black on outside maybe a black over red vinyl to match. black on top or bottom or just some down the middle to break it up.

Whatever way you chose to go, I would reconsider installing the arm rest though. Will look funny without them not to mention not as comfortable.
