There is a dude in Ashtabula, Ohio that has been posting cheap prices on very desire able car bodies, motors, etc. on Craig's list. He posts these generally on the western states with free shipping. Unfortunately, I fell for the scam and sent deposits. He pulls the ad and cancels his phone number. I have his name and address. Are there any others that have been scammed please contact me. Also are there any Hambers in the Ashtabula area that may help me with this? I plan on fileing a police report. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Obviously not enough warnings......but when you talk to the dude on the phone several times, there were initially no clues....
You shouldn't need any help from HAMBers filing a police report interstate fraud becomes federal and basically involves the FBI and or the Post Office. easy peasy. if you have someone get your money back for you then even though a fraud was perpetrated they are likely not to help because you will not have lost any money.
You should post up his name an address so no one else falls for it, same reason Ryan has a bad sellers list with info. You would be shocked how much info someone can find on this cable powered box.
A con man can usually charm a snake with his silver tongue and saying everything you want to hear, this has been covered many times over....don't send deposits to unknown sellers, unfortunately you didn't listen. If it's too good to be true,it probably is. I hope you get restitution and I hope I win the lottery but I'm afraid we are both outta luck, you being in a different state to take him to court I'm afraid your going to have to press charges in his state. He just recently had an ad for a '40 willys coupe. Ad was from Panama City, Fl and supposedly was his fathers' car. Could only deal with him, couldn't send someone to look at it, no title, couldn't pick it up(I'll deliver it), etc, etc. We cut and ran!
post a name and address as if you're looking to find him theres alot off us in ne ohio i'm 20 miles from him
It sucks when a supposedly straight shooter turns out to be a dirtbag.I bought some stuff off an older guy a couple of weeks ago- got pictures and the guy talked a good game----BUT--- stuff showed up and it's total garbage.About the only thing he said that wasn't bullshit was that it WAS original Model A .Anyone who said you should have known better needs to put himself in your position- that ain't what you want to hear right at the moment. I'd love to go pay the guy I bought stuff off a visit and drill him in the face a couple good ones, but I'd end up in the can and STILL have junk parts!Hope somehow you get something out of it- Keep the faith.
Doing a Google map search and looking at the street view, he sure has a nice well kept house and yard for a scammer. Could this be a wrong address? I wouldn't expect what I see there. Bob http://www.bobsretrophobia.com/
A con man can’t be successful unless he is believable. If he is not believable he could not get you to buy real 100 dollar bills for a dollar. In this day and age with ebay, Craigslist and net sites it is a con mans dream. Be careful, don’t buy sight unseen.
I got burned for A LOT of money recently from some redneck Mathew Patterson in North Carolina, cops don't care, FBI don't care, Bank of America don't care. The only thing you can do is sue him and it aint gonna happen!!! He knows that you won't drive cross country to go to court, win and still get no judgement. I got jacked HERE on the H.A.M.B. He posted car for sale, said it was amazing and rust free. I stupidly paid and then he sent the picture, it looked like it was dug from the bottom of the river and was nothing that he said it was. Sucks but gotta move on!!
And I'm willing to bet that neither buyer nor seller above were Alliance members, sometimes it doesn't pay to take shortcuts.
Did you really learn a lesson? Really, did you? I still don't see you down as an Alliance member. Do yall think this website operates for free?
Its craigslist what the hell did you expect! A fool and his money are soon parted! There's a sucker born every minute!(just some old sayings that come to mind). sorry ya got screwed hope ya didn't lose to much.
scam artists are everywhere - friend just was taken by a guy that contacted him via the Early Ford V8 Message Board. there were red flags that he ignored because of the super deal for a set of V8-60 finned aluminum heads that he has been looking for. guy is in Nigeria, at least that is what he now says.
I filed a police report this morning with my local Sheriffs office. I guess wait and see what happens. In the meantime this morning on Craigs list was another ad from the same scammer, JOHN KIRK. The ad was posted in on the Austin, Texas site: 64 Impala for 2K phone # 440-261-8105.
